I thought you and I were roughly the same age. I assure, it is getting tougher and tougher to talk about long time. I am fairly certain since my time on this board you and NAS(R.I.P.) having discussing Bears Super Bowls. We eventually have to ask the question, will it happen in your lifetime?

Your initial post wasn’t exactly setting a high bar either

Offense and game management must be above average or I'll have creeping doubts about BJ I don't want to have.

Need to know more about the coaching staff to give a better prediction (defense matters fellas) but..

10-7 should be doable if things line up right coaching wise.

The Bears do have talent (tho it was a bit overrated last year -and I said as much at the time) but I do believe we have a better coach offensively now in an offensively QB driven NFL so I think that helps quite a bit.

Bears should fight for 2nd in the division as I see the Lions taking a step back, the Packers are well coached but still have some issues, and the Queens may have been a bit overrated.. btw I’ll throw this out there -some of you may recall I liked JJ McCarthy coming out of the draft. Well, I still think he’s got interesting potential so depending on how his recovery shakes out I think he’s going to surprise some folks.

McCarthy is currently priced as the big chalk to be starting week 1 in Minnesota. Will be interesting props on which QB has the better season Williams or McCarthy?

Obviously there’s a lot that could/will change by the time these games are played, but on paper I’d say the Bears would be heavily favored in 4 games and marginally favored in 3 more. 9 wins would be optimistic.

Eberflus lost you 2-3 games last year you should have won and the NFC North has been exposed in the playoffs, so division is not quite as daunting as it looked early this year.

That said, 8 wins would be a good year, and that is if you get lucky and find 6-8 staters in FA and the draft. You will start the year with a handful of solid NFL players, need to revamp your offensive line and almost entire front seven on defense, quite a bit of work to do just to get NFL replacement level talent at numerous positions.

The good is that Johnson likely gets Poles to launch several of his pet project players which will clear up cap room.

The bad is that Poles is still here despite his obvious player evaluation limitations, Bears fans have to hope that Ben Johnson will be making the final call the FA and draft boards, and if that is the case why do you need Poles?

6-11. Rookie Coach and an unproven bad QB spell disaster. Poles does have cap space and draft picks to play with however. I like the Bears secondary. Even Stevenson. WRs are solid but I'd bounce Keenan Allen as I think he is on the decline and not worth the money that he'll be asking for. I'd look to add 2 OLs and 2DLs to both lines and roll out from there.

If they make some solid moves this offseason then that prediction improves but I see this as another 6-11/7-10 season at best next year. Particularly with the killer schedule that they will be playing

Still not much clarity on who Ben is going to surround himself with coach wise. It’s critical a head coach gets the right staff around them in order to be successful. I like the Dennis Allen idea but as of now that hasn’t come to fruition.

The Biggs report that Johnson won’t raid Campbell’s staff was a little bizarre.
