I've been clear. No change. Draft a QB in 1st or second round. He's a placeholder and I'm right. If they don't then I was wrong and he seems to be a true starter.

You're only correct if they A. Draft someone in the Firsr Kr 2nd round. And B. This person beats him out for the spot down the line.

But seeing as you will be proven wrong on draft day both points are moot.

Sure. It's settled then. Though I would add that if he gets cut or traded after a year I was right then if you are adding extra stuff.

Nah it's just common sense. He cannot be a "placeholder" if the guy whom they draft doesn’t actually ever replace him.

If he starts the entire year and then they decide to move on then it would be because they miscalculated on him as a player and seek to upgrade the position.

That's hardly a "placeholder" situation.

What? Fields would literally be replaced before his contract expired in that situation. "Miscalculated" means he didn't perform as expected and is not a long term starter level QB. The very definition of a placeholder.

"placeholder" for whom then? Which QB is he holding a "place" for?

The one that becomes available or they draft that is a better option then him? Are you high? Just asking a question.

You thought that Tyson Bagent was his "replacement" remember? And seeing as neither you nor Brick are willing to put any bread on the line (though you sure are posting quite a bit about it) it's clear that you don't believe that his Replacement will be on the Jets roster this season.

It's not. However it still wouldn't mean that he was signed to be a "placeholder" either.

I'd be wrong. You'd be very wrong.

If you cannot ID another QB on the Jets roster whom he happened to be "holding a place for" then it is obvious that he wasn't signed to be a "placeholder".

It will be a joy to see how wrong you are if Fields is launched after one year with the Jets.

Just to recap. None of what Brick claimed turned out to be true

To do what? Lose games in the Double digits in a non tanking season?

Justin Fields is going to spend the offseason begging bad teams to give him a chance to compete for a starting job at a cheap rate. The Bears could be paying him $40-$45 million a year to be the starting QB when he may not be capable of being a starter anywhere but Cleveland next year.

I would argue that they could cut Williams now and it would be a better situation than having Fields as the future Bears starting QB.

While this all sounds jazzy to the internet trolls on here, it's all just gibberish. Justin Fields will sign to be someone's starter next year. If you don't believe it, then put the bread up. Because after all he's "Just A Backup" remember

He may start for a bad team that drafts a rookie and doesn't want him to have to start from day one. Otherwise, it's the Browns that are basically just counting down the decade until the Watson contract is gone.

Justin Fields is a poor mans Gardner Minshew. I'm ecstatic that the Bears aren't paying him $40 million a year for that.

Quote:
Jets GM Darren Mougey declares that Justin Fields is New York's starting QB, won't face competition

His contract indicated as much. But New York Jets general manager Darren Mougey made it official Sunday: Justin Fields is New York's starting quarterback heading into next season. He won't face competition for the job from backup Tyrod Taylor or anybody else.

"He is the starter," Mougey told reporters at a news conference. "But Tyrod is going to be on his heels. Tyrod’s a pro’s pro. So really, it’s gonna be a great asset for Justin in the quarterback room.

"Tyrod’s been around the league for a long time. He knows what it takes to prepare and prep for this league and be ready to play."

Heard Cowherd say NYJ can't draft a QB.
Have to let it be Fields' team for at least a year.
Disagree 100%...if someone becomes available that is appealing you take him.

Can't say anything else.... But people can talk themselves into anything, especially after the decision is over and done with. You cross your fingers and hope something clicks. It's happened. Sam Darnold was signed in Minnesota via the Make A Wish Foundation.

Of course he can. He owned the team during that draft.

At least the results of this season will conclude the conflict.
