Why isn't anyone really talking about the Bears special team this year?
Is it cause they're not returning TD's?
Bears have had outstanding kick coverage all year.
Bears have had some pretty damn good returns in all three games.
Mare missed two FG's.
Reed missed two FG's.
Crosby missed one.
Even if the FG's missed were just plain botched all the way and had nothing to do with pressure, Special Teams deserve a nice chunk of credit this year.

I have loathed the Bears kickoff coverage squad so far this year.

same reason noone is talking about peyton manning. When you've been great for a decade people take it for granted

I don't think you should ever depend on special teams to win games, anything they give you is a bonus. You only hear about them when they are changing games, good or bad.

Absolutely agreed. Both kickoff and punt coverage units have been bad. Punt returns are nothing special. Kickoff returns have been good. Overall this is below the norm I have come to expect from Taub's special teams and think Darkside is smoking something a little too strong.

I did watch the last game on DVR, fast forwarding a lot but I didn't see anything tooooo bad regarding coverage.
Give it another game. Davis is a KILLER!

As have I. The opposing team is consistently getting to the 30 yard line; lots of missed tackles. And notice how the Seahawks got a good return on their last possession, where the Bears really needed to try to pin them deep.

Here's my thought on returns: As much as I love the speed that Knox brings to the equation, it seems that he doesn't really see the field all that well as compared to Manning or Hester- I think that this is something that he is capable of being able to improve upon, and if that happens, we'll be talkin' about special teams a bit more...

To Taub's defense, a lot of his core coverage guys (Izzy, Roach, Jamar Williams, etc.) are playing extended snaps on defense.

It will all change with the Return of the Commando this week!

If Knox keeps this pace up and manages to have a league leading KR average all Kudos must go to Taub for having 3 different guys in that position and 3 different guys leade the league.

While Devin and Manning had great Averages, the most impressive stat is they crossed the 40 yard line 27 times in 2 years. That is awesome!

I would also like it to be a 25 yard penalty for kickers that trip KR's as a last resort!
