Grossman looks A LOT better, but he still telegraphs his passes way too much and is thus vulnerable to frequent interceptions.

I don't mind them throwing every down with Grossman. We know what the running game will be. Let's put the pressure on Rex. It's the preseason. Rex did above average today.

Over/under on general recognition that Grossman isn't the future of this franchise: November 1 or six losses...whichever comes first. As I said before, he looked great in schoolboy foots when Spurrier was calling the plays. With merely mortal coaches, he'd be merely mortal. With the below average offensive coordinator he now has, he will be below average. And that's not good enough to lead an NFL team.

Me too. I think Grossman can be above average but the team can still win with him struggling. If he does struggle we still have time to salvage the season. It's a weak division. Give Rex 4 games. If he struggles make the move. We can be 2-2 or 3-1 with him struggling.

The defense hasn't looked as dominate all preseason either. I have faith that they will get it together but the secondary doesn't look good.

I am concerned about the D-line. Tank is just starting to practice, Dvoracek hasn't shown anything yet, and now Brown has a dislocated shoulder and may be out for a month or more. If Tommie Harris and Ogunleye don't take it up another notch, they're going to have to blitz more to compensate for the weakened line play, and that may expose the secondary.

I missed the first quarter but noticed they were passing it a lot. I thought maybe they were trying to keep the RBs healthy and get a better feel for what Rex could do.

Do you really think they'd make a switch in week 5 to Griese? It seems quick but I could see it if Rex he doesn't perform well.

What I find odd is thru all the injuries, camps, etc it's been Rex is our guy. He is a 4th year rookie. Are they really going to give him only 5 weeks and then yank him? I think it would wreck his confidence and ability to play.

I wouldn't blame them for making the switch though. It's a strange situation.

If the Bears are going to compete for the playoffs and the Super Bowl......then Griese must be the starter......and Grossman should be the back up......

Griese looked like an NFL QB. Grossman looked worse than the kid QB on the Pee Wee squad they had on the field in the halftime.

Huh? I thought he had a much better game than his previous two outings. Better accuracy, better composure, better decisions, better fluidity. At times, he looked like a legitimate NFL QB. But he still telegraphs many of his passes, and when defensive players see that on film, he will throw a lot of interceptions and lose his starting job if he doesn't adjust.

Coach, I would love to hear a more detailed version of your take on the game.

The offense looked a lot better but I would have liked to see them get the ball in the endzone.

Offense:

1) Grossman's taking allot of heat. But really he wasn't too bad.
His timing has improved every game. He was generally accurate with a few exceptions.

2) Like Grossman, the WRs are taking allot of heat. I'm not a big fan of the unit as a whole but, personally, I was satisfied this time.
There will always be one or two dropped passes and generally they caught what was catchable.

3) Muhammad looked really good. Not withstanding my comment above, anyone wondering what a good WR is supposed to catch should replay the second pass to him where he stretched full out on a dive.

4) The OL gave both QBs good protection.

5) The Bears got very lucky on the interception that was reversed.
The DB had read the slant to Berrian perfectly and he was right in front of him in a position to catch the ball and take it up field had the ball not been tipped.

6) Justin Gage may be in big trouble. Once again, he didn't show up in the game when it counted. He may be the odd man out on a WR unit that was underachieving to begin with.

Defense:

1) Its always frustrating to watch the defense. Its bend but don't break and I know that they're going to give up a lot of yardage. But it seems like they're out there forever.

2) If his attitude after it happened wasn't enough, the report on Alex Brown's injury reminded me of one hard rule. When the initial report is "sprain" inevitably it means "separation" or "tear".

3) The defense looked tired at times. I wonder if it's a result of the easy training camp. They're bound to spend allot of time on the field again this year. This may be a problem to keep an eye on.

4) The unit of the game was the Arizona OL that generally gave very good protection to the Arizona QBs (with two exceptions). It generally wasn't fancy but the Bears were blitzing.

5) I was surprised to see Leinart so soon. I was even more surprised at how well he played. Again, unlike Alex Smith with the 49ers, he played against a Bear defense that, while not exactly fancy, wasn't bland, either.

6) Chris Harris missed another tackle badly along the sideline resulting in an extra 5 yards before Boone made the tackle (and got hurt).

7) I always liked JJ Arrington. The Cardinals are in good shape at RB.

8) Did my eyes deceive me or did the Bears occasionally show a 3 man front?

Miscellaneous:

1) Robbie Gould's kickoffs were impressive. Assuming he's kicking in the direction the coaches want him to, he's looks great.

2) How disappointing that, after the first two good games, the team made up for it by committing so many penalties. Notably the second team offense stopped committing them and scored.

3) The two biggest questions for Arizona were answered positively (for now). The OL played very well. Their defense was fast to the ball.
Though the DL didn't do a particularly good job of getting pressure on Grossman they were generally pretty bland in their schemes.

4. Leinart -- f-g impressive!

Is Leinart already a more polished NFL QB than Grossman? He sure looked that way on Friday.

Orton did too last preseason

I remember Orton looking good at times last preseason, but not that good.

That point aside, we still have yet to find out exactly how much of a difference there is between Orton and Grossman. Sometimes there seems to be a vast gulf separating the two while at other times Grossman is very Ortonesque.

Is the shoulder Brown dislocated the same one that required offseason surgery?

If so, not good...
