Anyone still think this defense is better without him playing?

So many people have been on his backside the last few years and acting like we would be better off if he were not on the team. How is that working out for you?

Also note that the two games that the defense was absoluely gashed on the ground (Cincy and Arizona) were the games that Tommy Harris wasn't playing.

Why do we turn on our own so readily in this city?

And he said something negative about Jay Cutler! Let's all hate the best Bears player since Walter Payton because his skills have declined from best in the league!

Urlacher is a dick. But he's good at football.

Most athletes are. Urlacher has just been around longer than most others.

People love Dick Butkus and I bet he was a jackass too.

I often ask myself that question. Maybe it's because of two things:

1.) We deify players because of the hype built around them from the Chicago media (B & B to be exact). Then when these players turn out to be malcontents or play like shit after 1-2 great years we then are personnally offended and take issue or
2.) We suffer from second city disease (I do unapologetically). "We" want to be the top team in every sport and can't take the thought of rebuilding or suffering through a cycle of "blobdom". I know W_Z has no sympathy for Bears fans since his Saints have been bad for years. But man are they friggin' good now.

Boilermaker, I don't care how good he was/is, but don't say shit like that in the national press about your team and the struggling QB. Intelligence has not been one of Urlacher's strong points and that is glaringly obvious.

Especially since Urlacher would throw a hissy fit whenever there was criticism toward him or the Bears the last couple years.

What do you guys think the Bears record be right now if Urlacher wasn't injured???
How many more wins would the Bears have. I'll say 9-1 my friend!

Part of me says that Brian Urlacher has become one of the most surly, unhappy S.O.B.'s, even before #54 broke his wrist way back in Week 1 up in Green Bay. Another part of me says that the Bears are missing Brian's leadership big time on the defensive side of the ball since he went down. The other part of me wonders what in the hell he's thinking basically throwing Jay Cutler under the bus chatting with Yahoo!'s Mike Silver yesterday...

I don't think Urlacher would have made a difference in the Cincinnati, Arizona or Minnesota game. He may have made a difference in the Atlanta, Philadelphia and San Francisco games.

It's hard to equate the loss of Urlacher in terms of wins and losses. Would his presence and ability been the difference in 3 losses and turn them into wins? Possibly - but who can really say? His impact by being out is evident, I am just not sure how to equate that to wins and losses. Those 3 games would have put the Bears at 7-4 and in prime position to make the playoffs. But in the Philly and SF games, the offense scored a total of 20 points.

I think the loss of Cutler is more harmful than the loss of Urlacher. Yes I realize Cutler is still playing, but not at the level we had expected.

Both have good offenses...What were the matchups? Tommie Harris doesn't seem like he'd be the difference maker he once was. He has trouble walking.

I didn't think they'd miss Url that much but they do. He is really like having another safety in a way. He has always or after his 2nd year been a dick. I think they should have had Briggs calling the plays not HH or Roach.

That had everything to do with the fact that both Cincy & Arizona have very good offenses, & nothing to do with the fact that Tommie fucking Harris didn't play in those games. Tommie Harris sucks, dontcha think?
