Some observations from my perspective as a relatively short-timer season ticket holder.

1. From what I can tell from the message boards at chicagobears.com, the wait list is right around 5,000. The $100 per seat deposit ensures only serious people sign up.

2. In recent years the biggest moves have been around 600. Some years there is no movement.

3. Non-PSL ticket holders do not get to "try out" their seats and are not given a specific seat choice. When I got mine in 2005 I got to state my preference for either the end zone or grandstand and if I wanted the no-alcohol section. That's it.

4. When I got mine I was placed in the last row of the grandstand, right around the 5. They have since offered to move me closer to center. I have declined (I like the last row - can stand, protection from the weather and no drunks behind us). When the STH's next to us dropped I wrote a letter asking to move into those seats, which were closer to the aisle. That request was granted. Some year I may buy PSL's in the lower bowl but right now I am happy where we are in our $68 seats.

5. I took my Dad (who has trouble walking and climbing stairs) to the Lions game. The Bears were very helpful with switching all of my tickets for that game (I have 4) to handicap accessible so we could all sit with my Dad.

6. Friends and family love the fact that I have the tickets. That in itself makes it all worthwhile. Anyone I take to the Bears game for the first time loves it. I am glad I can do that for people. I never sell them to strangers. I do find people to swap with so we can go to games with large groups. That also gives me the chance to sit in different places. This year I traded my 4 Philly for 4 Cleveland.

7. I do not enjoy paying full price for two pre-season games. I mitigate that somewhat by either taking young nephews (they don't care) or donating them to a vets group and taking them off my taxes.
