So this is it. Finally. I'm glad this abortion of a season will be over in about 52 hours. Looks like the Vikes will be resting MANY players.
Quote:
The Vikings are booked for the sixth seed in the NFC playoffs whether they win, lose or tie their game against the Bears on Sunday and it appears they will be taking the cautious approach with several starters as a result.

Courtney Cronin of ESPN reports that the team is expected to sit Kirk Cousins for the game. Sean Mannion would make the second start of his career. His first came under similar circumstances for the Rams in Week 17 of the 2017 season.

Cronin doesn’t name any other names, but one imagines that running back Dalvin Cook, linebacker Eric Kendricks and any other player with an injury concern (like WR Adam Thielen) would be on the bench to rest up ahead of the team’s road trip in the Wild Card round.
I'll say the Bears win 20-16 because of course it doesn't matter.

If the Bears win, Nagy can claim best coaching record after 2 seasons in franchise history.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky explodes for 280 yards against backups and third stringers. Good dolphin and Nas have seizures afterwards.

Bears should be doing the exact same thing, taking a look at backups and practice squad guys, this should be a glorified scrimmage, why wouldn't Nagy take the same approach he did to the pre-season games and protect his fragile QB. Would like to see more of Tolliver, can same cap space next year if he can fill a starting spot at CB next year, would like to see Bars get a look, backup DB's (Shelley/Bush/Joseph)should get a look, and why not give Nall a carry or two?

They're in good shape notwithstanding this season. Need to fix the offense (easier said then done) and maintain some consistency on defense. They're not too far from entering the playoffs again.

Explodes for 280. That's good.

Exactly. I thought the defense was decent, and they kept them in most games...you could see the defense get gassed late in games, especially the Oakland and San Diego games...but they were hung out to dry by terrible play calling and execution from the offense.

The only way this Nagy offense will be league average (in spite of its total predictability) is if the Bears somehow go from having a bad offensive line to a Saints-tier group of maulers. Whitehair is good, Daniels is probably fine as the worst guy on a great line...but the rest all need to go. Massie and Leno Jr. both need to be sent packing, and whats more they need to be replaced by All-Pro level talents. That's what needs to happen to make this offense work. And the Bears are up against it with the cap and have no first round pick.

With a better coach this wouldn't be so dire.

They are still in decent shape defensively. The offense did not help them for sure. The Bears still had a lot of problems getting off the field on 3rd down, and didn't take the ball away nearly enough times.

I wish you were correct but "fixing" the offense is a HUGE UNDERTAKING. They need a LOT of talent that is not in their inventory and they have little means of getting it. They need at least THREE GOOD OFFENSIVE LINEMEN including two big tough offensive tackles. They need at least ONE GOOD TIGHT END not the cast of losers that they have now. They need a GOOD Top receiver. And...…. they need a GOOD knuckle dragging tough and yet fast Running back.

That is OVER HALF of the offensive team and that is not to say that the remainder left on offense are good. To me, only Whitehair and Robinson are adequate to good players. And that also includes the fact that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is still an unknown and Nagy is suspect also.

No vegan, this team is FAR from the play-offs. It is a shame that the idiot in charge didn't know how to even begin to build an offense.

"Execution" is the real operative word. At least 6 starters on offense deserved to be walked out and EXECUTED.

The tackles are the source of all their problems. It would sure be nice to have a real tight end, but they'd still be able to make it work with Robinson, Miller and Cohen if they didn't have Leno and Massie.

Most teams see the LT position as a skill position and use first or second day draft picks to fill the position. Bears have not drafted an OT in the first or second round since Gabe Carimi in the disastrous 2011 draft, Long was drafted with the intention of moving him to LT, but he failed miserably when the moved him to RT, but that was in the nearly as disastrous 2013 draft, see the common theme here, disastrous draft. When you have goofs like Pace and Emery thinking they are outsmarting everyone by picking guys who put up great combine numbers rather than making intelligent picks you end up trying to patch a team together with FA's.

None of Pace's drafts have been disastrous.

Defense is doing that against the team that Minnesota has put out there.
