This guy is a fucking wizard. Not only did he manage to not give up a draft pick for dumping Thieving Mack, but he actually got multiple draft picks in return. The Bears are in great hands.

My pole was definitely extended when I heard Mack was GONE.

I may have a 4 hour smile. I thought there was no way that he would be gone this season.

This needed to be done.

Bears will suck for at least a year.

At least we have the White Sox world series run that will last through october

I hoped for a trade but didn't think it was a realistic possibility. This is a great initial move by Poles.

Quinn has to be next.

The Roquan situation becomes very interesting if the Bears are going to rebuild around Fields.

If Fields is good, the whole outlook on the team changes, though.

This is the first day of the transformation into an offense first football team.

Air Bears

Roquan doesn't look like he misses many meals, but I think you have to extend him. Unless some team is willing to give you a Russell Wilson like haul.

Really? I know cap hits are weird, I just figured more given this:

“ Mack has three more seasons remaining on his contract and is owed $17.75 million in 2022, $22.9M in '23 and $23.25M in '24.

The Chargers will take on his full contract, a source told Schefter.”

It doesn't matter, per the Packer fans here, the salary cap is a myth.

There is a lot of dead cap space on his contract due to his signing bonus and subsequent contract adjustments to create more cap space in past years.

if he uses the freed up cap to sign O-line help, that would be great news

They restructured his contract a million times to free up cap money. That increased his dead cap hit. The bill for that was due this season.

I have no idea how any Bears fan isn't happy with this. Age, health and contract severly limits what his return would be. The Pace cleanup started today.

According to the afternoon show it freed up roughly 20 million this year giving them 50 mill total to work with..

Either way it’s a solid move. You get a 2nd rounder this year, a pick next year, and you unload an albatross contract. I liked Mack, but he was injury prone almost the entire time we had him. I think this could wind up being a good deal for both parties, I’ll cheer for him in the playoffs..

That's incorrect:

Just another issue you don’t understand. At least you’re consistent.

Nah he said it was 20 plus the 30 for the cap and mentioned it was 50 total.. now I didn’t listen to the ‘whole show’ like you did, and that was just part of a segment and of course they could have kept talking about it and elaborated more.. but he did mention ‘50 total for the year’ (which I thought sounded strange).. they headed into break almost immediately after that.. it was right after the interview they had with Liam

I wasnt crazy about his HC hire, I love that he moved Mack, bitter pill to swallow but had to be done..terrible trade, no more trading up, forget this season and dump Jackson, Quinn and do not re sign Hicks. Huge cap room next year, just fortify the O lone this year and add weapons on offense

If they can trade Jackson post 6/1, it looks like they clear an additional $11 million in cap space, which could help in re-signing Roquan, assuming they want him for the long term. They only clear $6 million if they release Jackson after June 1.

Gonna agree with Nas and take a healthy swig from of Bears Kool-Aide from the Bears cup I just picked up on the 75% off rack at Meijer.

We have a young GM with a plan to rebuild the roster while clearing out some of the bad paper on the books from the last goof. Thought Pace had screwed things up so bad that it would take 3-5 years to rebuild the roster, but maybe Poles can make the rebuild happen faster.
