Bears' fans, awfulannouncing.com has the scoop on Sunday's announcers FOX Sports will be sending to Atlanta for the Bears/Falcons' game. We're getting Thom Brennaman & Brian Billick Sunday for the battle of two surprise 3-2 teams at the Georgia Dome. Billick was mikeside with Brian Baldinger, Matt Vasgersian & Laura Okmin for the Bears' 34-7 rout of the hapless Lions in Detroit. Brennaman is the lead PBP of FOX Sports' Bowl Championship Series coverage, along with the #1 voice of the FOX-owned Big Ten Network. Brennaman & Billick are the guys calling the Bears' game this Sunday, like it or not.

Brian Baldinger's a little full of himself, yet draws paychecks from FOX Sports, NFL Network as co-host of "AFC/NFC Matchup" with Sterling Sharpe, and "Pro Football Now" on Comcast SportsNet. I wonder if he went to the Matt Millen school of analysts when FOX first landed the NFC contract in '94...

Who cares? Sunday is marathon day so all I will see is the second half on muted TVs at Millers Pub while sucking down a few Harps after the race.

This post has to do with who's calling the Bears' game on TV. Everyone knows that Al Michaels, John Madden & Andrea Kremer call "Sunday Night Football" on NBC, with Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski & the very bored Tony Kornheiser calling "Monday Night Football" on ESPN. Also, Bob Papa & Cris Collinsworth will be behind the mike calling "Thursday/Saturday Night Football" on NFL Network, starting Thanksgiving night. I'm trying to give you a heads up in regards to who Bear fans will be dealing with when the games are on FOX and/or CBS on a regional level...Consider yourselves warned.

They got pretty good food there.

Thom Brennaman and Brian Billick may actually be kinda OK.

Yeah I second this.....Just keep Dick Stockton the hell away from any Bears game the rest of the year and I will be alright.

Guys, I think Brian Billick in particular did a good job calling the Bears/Lions' game last Sunday. I haven't heard that much of Thom Brennaman calling NFL football, but he's really good calling Big Ten football on the FOX-owned Big Ten Network, DIRECTV 610, and he's FOX Sports' lead voice of the Bowl Championship Series. I think these two will call one of the better matchups of NFL Week 6.

How does Dick Stockton still have a job? The guy hasn't gotten a name right since his career began, and he jumbles words around like he's got a mouth full of pez. They need to shitcan him and give him some kind of ban from any mass-media device for the next millenia.

I don't understand why Stockton still gets the major assignments, regardless if it's MLB & the NFL for FOX Sports, or if it's MLB Playoff Baseball for TBS & NBA Basketball on TNT whenever Kevin Harlan is on assignment covering college hoops and/or the NFL for CBS Sports. For the record, because Joe Buck is covering the Dodgers/Phillies' NLCS this weekend, Dick somehow steps in to join Troy Aikman & Pam Oliver for FOX's feature NFL game Sunday, the Cowboys & Cardinals in Glendale, AZ. That may also explain why Matt Vasgersian got the assignment to call the Bears/Lions in Detroit last Sunday...Vasgersian normally works with J.C. Pearson, while Stockton usually works with Brian Baldinger. One last thing, Chris Rose (?) calls the Packers/Seahawks' game Sunday with J.C., which follows the Bears/Falcons' game...

To me it's an easy pick between NFL and NCAA announcers of who's better. The NCAA has some of the best call men on the job, so it's distressing to hear the same praddling jackoffs week after week on fox.

For the kind of money FOX Sports pays to broadcast the NFL, MLB, the Bowl Championship Series & NASCAR, the quality of announcers FOX gives us pales in comparison to CBS Sports. It remains to be seen who CBS will send this way when they call 2 Bear home games later this season, starting with the November 9th game vs. Tennessee at Soldier Field. I think a lot hinges on how the Bears & Titans do. There are guys on the NFL/CBS depth chart we've all heard of & I can tolerate for 3 hours...

You sure do care an awful lot about announcers.

I actually liked Brennaman and Billick today....Brennaman got excited for both teams when they did something positive and Billick did a nice job of breaking things down and made you understand why a coach was doing something in a certain situation

Yeah, Brian "they won't have time to complete a pass and attempt a field goal" Billick is top notch.

This Sunday, awfulannouncing.com says that FOX Sports is sending Sam Rosen, Tim Ryan & Charissa Thompson from FSN's "Best Damn Sports Show Period" to call the Bears' home game vs. the Vikings at Soldier Field. Although this will be our first look at Charissa, who also works the sidelines for the FOX-owned Big Ten Network, Sam & Tim called 2 other Bear games this season, both losses. :(

Frank, sorry about the lack of photos for Charissa... :( She was recently added as a full-time co-host on "Best Damn" w/Chris Rose & onetime former Bull John Salley, which usually airs @ 11p weeknights on Comcast SportsNet locally. Speaking of Chris, that same Web site that gave me the skinny on Charissa, Sam Rosen & Tim Ryan working the Bears' home game vs. Minnesota, awfulannouncing.com, also tells me that Chris & J.C. Pearson have been commissioned by FOX to call the Lions/Texans' late game in Houston. Thankfully, we won't be seeing that game...

I don't know when Charissa Thompson (of Big Ten Network fame) decided to quit being a blonde.

But, thumbs up to the change. :thumleft:

I noticed it very briefly late last night on "The Best Damn Sports Show Period", but first noticed Charissa's new hair color on awfulannouncing.com, Dr. Noisewater. Speaking of ladies who need a new hair color, Jillian Barberie-Reynolds' black hair on the "FOX NFL Sunday" pregame show these days does nothing for me! :x

For the fourth time this season, FOX Sports is sending us Sam Rosen & Tim Ryan to call the Bears' game this Sunday vs. the winless Lions at Soldier Field. Unfortunately, Charissa Thompson from FSN's "Best Damn Sports Show Period" & the FOX-owned Big Ten Network won't be working the sidelines. :( Those duties will go to Chris Myers, who did his Sammy Sosa imitation when he poured water on himself before the Bears' game in Charlotte in Week 2, also worked by Sam & Tim.  Chris will hopefully be dry when the World Series FINALLY wraps up.  I've also learned who CBS Sports will send to the Lakefront November 9th for the Bears/Titans' game. CBS is sending its #2 crew to Soldier Field November 9th, as Greg Gumbel & Dan Dierdorf have been commissioned to call one of the marquee games of NFL Week 10.
