SF Defense is some bad ass mofos. Quick and strong. They did a great job of containing a very fast GB offense.

Yes, I am worried, not sure Bear D has the quicks to keep up. Hope to be wrong, REALLY dont want to watch a blowout in GB

Thurs night shootout?

Opened as GB -6.5, now down to 4.5...OU 48.5

It's charming that you still think of the Bears as a defensive team.

Bears can now keep up with the pack offensively step for step.

It should be good. Nothing better in a rivalry then when both teams are good. It's been very rare that both teams have been good at the same time at least in my lifetime.

I predict each team puts up at least 24.

Definitely looks that way. Which means it will probably be 10-7 or something.

What?

GD apparently had a stroke while typing that post. Just ignore it and move on.

If I were the Pack, I'd attack the middle of the field all night against the Bears. The defensive line can't stop the run, and Urlacher is looking awfully slow.

They have been attacking the Bear middle for more than a decade with slant passes. At least they won't be able to run the screen pass with a guy like Benson.

Dolphin, I just broke out into a cold sweat upon your mention of the slant and the screen pass. God I fucking hate how they kill the Bears with those plays. I'm talking more about deeper stuff over the middle, though, to the tight end. I don't think Urlacher will be able to stay with Finley on those routes. And the Bears are clearly soft on runs up the gut.

The points and the over sound good. Packers defense looked abysmal yesterday and I don't think the Bears defense is particularly good. Both teams should score in the high 20's/low 30's.

This should be an easy win for the bears. The packers defense is a mess and it's not getting fixed anytime soon. Enjoy having Marshall get covered by nick perry. All you have to do is line him up inside during a 4 receiver set and that's what will happen. Why run a nickel defense when you can have a guy who Played defensive end last year drop into coverage against a wr.

I looked over at my guy. He has 5.5. I will probably jump on it before it gets into the 4s. Bears have been playing the pack close lately even when they are clearly outmatched.

I don't think it's possible to be overly negative about that defensive display. Unless the packers put up 45 I can't are them having a chance to win.

UMN's cheese is old and moldy.

I only saw parts but I don't think GB is as bad as they played yesterday and I'm not sure the Bears are as good as they played. Those first few series...still not over them. Will be a good game.

The Packers were an historically bad pass defense last year (no hyperbole). I don't think Alex Smith is as good as he looked yesterday and Jay Cutler is infinitely better with a better player at at almost every skill position. Packer defense should be cowering.

On the other hand, the Bear defense is going to get torched.

49ers offensive line is much better than the Bears.
Running backs are a wash
WR/TE is probably a wash
Cutler is better than Smith but also turns it over more

I agree the Packer defense will be in trouble Thursday. I'm not sure it's facing a much better offense than it did yesterday though.

The Rb's are a wash? Um No
The Wr's are a wash? No again
TE is in favor of the 49er's
Cutler is so much better then Smith it's not even funny.

Yeah I could see GB putting up 40+ and the bears not quite being as with it as they were on Sunday.

The RBs are a wash. You're out of your mind if you think Forte is significantly better than Gore and Bush is significantly better than Walker. You can make an argument that one tandem is slightly better, but they are very close.

I saw WR/TE. In today's NFL, they have to be combined. Brandon Marshall and Vernon Davis are the standouts. Moss looks like he can still play. Crabtree looks and has looked, going back to last season, like he's finding his groove as a very solid #2. Jeffrey and Bennet both looked solid, and Manningham made some key catches early on and didn't look bad at all in Week 1. Those are pretty equal passing game assets.

Cutler is probably much more talented than Smith. But what are their respective QB ratings since Week 1 last season. I don't even know and I'm not looking it up, but I'm willing to bet its close. They have completely opposite styles, but the results probably weren't that different. Smith is asked not to lose the games with turnovers. He did that very well last season. Jay is asked to make more plays, and he does, but often at the expense of costly turnovers. There's no question I'd rather have Jay Cutler as my QB, but for a game, or even a season, I'm not sure that Smith is much worse. Depends on what you need. Let's see who does better than against GB the first two weeks of the season. Good comparable situation.

Finally shook off the sky is falling attitude from last night and chilled the fuck out. I think the failure of the running game is being blown out of proportion. The 49ers D I believe allowed 1 100 yard rusher all last year. Benson won't light up the Bears by any means but hopefully he'll useful. I think Benson can be competent enough for play-action to work. Jennings should be picked on all day. He had 2 picks but on one he was plainly beat and got lucky Luck under threw the ball.

My faith in Pack D is minimal against the Bears but at least there was evidence of a pass rush. The Bears had a decent o-line game against the Colts. But maybe a road game coupled with a pass rush might hide the shit coverage. Packers corners are better than Colts' so maybe they can recognize Marshall might be getting the ball.

Forte is quite a bit better back then Gore. You might be the only one that thinks that is close. Bush is better then Walker. Stop trying to say otherwise, it's not close. Really.
