The Colts would never do it and I dont know if I would want the Bears to do it.

Mac and Finji just brought it up. They agreed with Bernsie. Do it yesterday if the Colts are dumb enough.

The Colts will never do it. They already had Jeff George once.

Harper and Trout have proven themselves over the course of an MLB season that they are the goods. Luck has had two games and was bad in the first one.

Fixed. Got to make the comparison accurate.

Would you trade Matt Garza for Dylan bundy?

No. Garza was the perfect comparison.

Young-ish guy with attitude issues (but not beating people up) with loads of potential that seems to be maxing out at "pretty good"

I dont know who Bundy is. Based on context, I would assume he is a highly touted pitcher with little to no MLB experience.

I would probably keep Garza. I will usually side on proven talent vs potential. Too many guys who are sure things end up flopping.

I'm not saying Luck wont be good, I'm just saying that he isnt better than a lot of QBs right now and especially in the NFL, you need to be thinking about right now.

Ok, I guess the disconnect here is just how rare of a prospect Luck seems to be.

We arent talking the best QB in the draft or best prospect in years. Most analysts have deemed him the most ready player ever and the best prospect since Peyton Manning.

Im with you on the unproven thing, but this is a special case.

Id try my Luck

How long does he have to be great? I think Manning had one bad season in Indy before he went off, does Luck get that same benefit of the doubt? How should we evaluate this rare talent?

I dont know. Are you giving up on him in Week 2 of his NFL career?

Id expect him to be a top 10 QB by next year and a top 5er the year after that (Although, shit happens)

Not without cash consideration or a draft pick

No, that would be as silly as all the experts saying he is the greatest QB to ever come in the league before he took a single snap.

Nearly every team in the NFL would trade their starting QB for Luck in a heartbeat. There would only be a few exceptions, but at least 80% would be on board instantly.

Except no one said that. they said he is the greatest prospect, which he is.

Which doesnt mean a lot in a league where there is no rebuilding and you need to try to win the superbowl every single year.

Ok, let's turn this around for a second. Which do you think would not even consider trading their starting QB right now for Luck.

Here's my list of untouchables:
1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Drew Brees
3. Tom Brady
4. Eli?

Nobody else in the league should be untouchable for an overall #1.

Being an overall #1 pick QB means nothing.

Smith, Bradford, Stafford and Newton, both Mannings are all overall #1 QBs playing in the league right now. None of them made your list.

I'm like 90% sure the Panthers wouldn't trade Cam for Luck.

I would

Yes everyone on earth would now. Back then probably 99.999% of people would as well. LeBron was a case where all the hype was justified and deserved but he still needed 8 years (I'm guessing on that BTW, not a big NBA fan) and to combine with 2 other all stars before he accomplished his goal. Even the most sure thing of all sure things couldnt win a championship by himself.

I'm sure we can bump this thread in 3 years and laugh about how stupid my arguments against Luck are. I just think that to say he is going to be better than 80-90% of QBs in the league is silly after 2 games.

Yeah, Luck is football LeBron

I think its silly to NOT project because he hasnt "shown me yet"

There are some guys you KNOW. LeBron was better than 90% of the NBA before he played a minute.

If Luck is NFL LeBron then no team should say no. Everyone else is older, get the best QB the league will ever see. It might hurt you for a season, maybe 2, but then you have the GOAT playing under center for 10 years.
