With 2 chances to win the division they blew it both times. Cutler had a better game than usual against GB, but it was just good enough to lose. 1-8 VS the packers now.

Also two games in a row. Trestman's first season is a failure. No help needed in week 16, other than to win the game, and you get blown out 11-54 by a team that had no incentive to win. Then you surprisingly force a fourth and eight on GB with less than a minute to go at midfield , and you give up a TD. That's all just inexcusable.

Worse for Cutler, despite San Diego getting outplayed for 4 quarters by KC's practice squad, KC decided not to let Pittsburgh make the playoffs. Phil Rivers is in the playoffs and Cutler is not in the playoffs going into Cutler's free agent negotiations.

you cannot expect the guy to deliver a team that much in his first year as an NFL head coach. the team had plenty of chances to take the division and they didn't. trestman is liable but how'd you like a 7th year coach do practically the same thing?

This loss is on the defense and especially Conte. Cutler had a respectable game, not a holy shit game, but he was good. I think the last 10 seconds was bad. He should have thrown a shorter pass, picked up 15-20 yards, then used the last timeout. Then he would have had a better chance at the endzone. Overall, this was a huge choke job. The 49ers would have beat the shit out of them next week, but you had some bad loses, and the last 2 weeks were really bad.

On a side note, Berns and Rozner really should quit acting like they're doctors. They couldn't have been more wrong about Rodgers.

On the pass Marshall dropped, I thought he should've run it. Looked like he could've picked up at least 10 yards, down to the 30 or so. Timeout, another short completion and then 2 shots at end zone from the 20-25 or so. A lot better odds. Oh well.

It was a very disappointing season. The offense forgot to show up for 6 quarters. Not sure why Trestman didn't feed Forte earlier in the game. The Bears lost this game in the first half by not taking advantage of the gifts the defense gave them. On top of that it appears that they were playing against the refs too.

This team is going to where with Cutler. If he decides to show up for a game you have a chance, but you know there's 4-5 games he's not going to show up and those losses mean not getting into the playoffs.

Agreed. This was a 10-6 team last year with upgrades on offense. The defense sustained injuries to top players, but despite that they were sitting pretty at 8-6 with a golden opportunity to lock up the division in week 16. The failed spectacularly against Philly, then gave away a lead with less than a minute to go today while defending a fourth and long.

Were the Bears worse than you thought they would be? I look at the progress made on offense in Trestys first year and am happy that we now have a real offense which will only get better next year. I did not expect the Bears offense to be this good so soon. 8-8 in year one of a rebuilding program is good. Next year will be better.

Expectations change weekly especially in the NFL

Treaty cost them at least the Minnesota game and lost two win and get in games

Disappointing to say the least

This. The thing that kills you isn't just that the Bears were in the catbird seat with two games left and completely shit the bed. It's that twelve months ago, they fired a head coach because 10-6 wasn't good enough.

This was not a rebuilding year. They actually made a 10-6 team better by adding Bennett, and improving the o-line. This was a 10-6 team that had a chance to duplicate last year's record, but collapsed when Trestman's offensive was supposed to be crystallizing after a grace period of about four-six weeks. This season was a failure, though seeing how they operate in year two of the offense will be interesting.

Also, we do NOT want a mere inverse Lovie; Lovie was excellent on one side of the ball, and had no clue what to do on the other side. Trestman is clearly the goods on one side of the ball, but his defense sucked. Neither option is ideal.

No one should be surprised. MattintheCrown spoke, and he told y'all. After last week's insane embarrassment, I told you that letting the Packers back in would result in Rodgers playing, and they'd beat us once again in humiliating fashion to knock us out of the playoffs. There was simply no way that wouldn't come to fruition. Anyone who thought that maybe it wouldn't is simply a fool. The Bears exist to prop the Packers up, quite evidently.

I'm not sure if tension is high because we lost or what, but fuck you. I had almost 0 expectations going into the season. Players and coaches screwed up in a couple of games, absolutely. If you want to be bernstein and only championships matter be my guest, but if you thought this old urlacherless defense was going to be anything but a shit show, especially after the injuries, then you are the ignorant one. That cupboard is bare and had been for a while.

Improvement was made on offense. I'm not sure what you have in trestman but I think it's odd to call the season a complete failure.

It was. Despite their injuries the playoffs fell into their laps and the didn't take advantage of it. Regardless of your expectations the reality of the season was a failure. There are just as many unanswered questions as there were before the season started. If Forte takes a step back this offense won't be the same either.

RR told me after the Lions game that Forte was washed up. We had a long debate about it.
