I thought with Seattle playing Saturday and winning, they would keep them in the Saturday game, and also keep the Eagles on one week rest ?

Wouldn't the Bears game produce higher ratings on Saturday ?

The Seahawks should've have lost to a sputtering Dallas team at home.........what makes people think they can go on the road and play well enough to beat the Bears?

The Bears need to come out with some passion, which has been sorely lacking in the last two games.

If Grossman has another bumpy game, I don't think they can pull it out even if Griese comes to their aid.

What about Seattle's game on Saturday made you fear them...and they have been playing like that for over a month...and they are even worse on the road.

I have absolutely no doubt the Bears will win. After looking at the Eagles this weekend, I have no fear of them either.

As bad as you might think Grossman is take a look at the performances of the winning QBs in the NFC wildcard. In fact the theme of the weekend was QBs "managing" games, letting their RBs handle the heavy load on offense and waiting for the other team to screw up.

I didn't see anything that scared me in Saturday's game, but it's my Bears agnst coming out.

The Bears seem like a different team than they were since they last played the Seagulls. I have this premonition of the Bears D being picked apart by the Chunky Soup Boy and Rex playing like crap.

I hope they come out with a little fire in their bellies and play some blue-collar, smashmouth football.

I stand by my earlier prediction. The Bears will win this game easily. I am even more confident now after having watched Seattle lose a home game to Dallas, but Tony Romo lettting Seattle play next week anyway.

Seattle is bringing guys in off the street to play defense. This is night and day from Carolina shutting out NY last year on the road and then coming to town. Seattle is much worse and Chicago is better. There is a reason the Bears have a week off and Seattle had to qualify to come to Chicago. You will see it on Sunday.

I have very little doubt that the D will show up with some fire this week. I know people will say that they should be professional, but when you have everything you can possibly need locked up as early as they did, you are not going to play with the same intensity.

Who knows which Rex will show up this week, but I can see the D putting on a Cardinal-game-type (second half) of clinic this Sunday, thus leading the Bears to victory.

I don't expect Seattle to get into double digits.

Well, I think this is about as good a matchup as they could have hoped for (well, maybe the Giants would have been even better, but who thought they had a chance). That said, the Bears suck as well. I expect a close game, and I'll stick with my Bears getting bounced prediction; unlike some others, I'm not forgetting the end of the season so quickly.

Because I keep seeing it, I've just got to ask: for those of you who predict the Bears "rolling," just where do you think the points will come from? You are aware Turnoverasaurus Rex is still our QB, right? Now, maybe the defense remembers its supposed to be one of the best in the NFL and shuts the Seahawks down, but I can't envision the Bears "rolling," simply because they are utterly inept on offense.

Something tells me that we are going to see a much different game this time around in comparison to the joke we saw on Week Four. Do not discount Alexander's ability this time around (especially since he was MIA last time), especially with the gaping wholes we have been seeing as of late in the Bears' D. I still pick Chicago to win, but it's gonna be a close one.

Did you turn the Seattle-Dallas game off before the 4th Q. Dallas was running the ball with ease against a tired Seattle D. And now Seattle has to regroup against a surging Bear running game.

Rex will have the same game plan as Peyton Manning, Jeff Garcia, Matt Hasselback, Eli Manning, Tony Romo and Trent Green had: low risk passing used only to support a heavy running game. Hell, Andy Reid, who is a huge believer in pass, pass and pass some more, put the ball in his running game's hands. The only team that opened it up a little more this weekend was New England. Not coincidentally, New England is the only team that played this week without a 1,000 yard rusher.

I know you don't discount the end of the season Matt, but, since you did ask, I do. The GB game was a complete shut down.

Leading into that, the Bears averaged 28 points a game. In their last 3 games leading up to the GB, during a period when everyone seems to be up in arms, the Bears scored 42, 34, and 26 points.

The Bears will score the way they have all season. Grind out a couple drives for points, turnovers in good field position/maybe points, solid special teams play - pinning SEA deep, maybe a great return.

I'll even step out and say Rexy throws a 50+ yard TD this game. He'll probably throw a pick too, just so everybody can overreact to it.

Well, the problem is that Rex sucks at that style (then again, he sucks at all styles). He can't throw a short pass to the sidelines to save his life; I think you saw a preview of Rex's "low risk" passing ability against the Packers. I don't see any reason to believe he'll become a non-hack in the 2 week layoff.

I simply don't buy that. There's no way someone like Urlacher doesn't mind getting his ass kicked by GB on national television. They got beat badly for one reason: Rex is terrible.


Hester hasn't been very good of late, and neither has the defense. They put up those points prior to the GB game against the worst garbage the NFL has to offer, and still nearly lost 2 of those games. The main reason the Bears averaged 28 points per game is that Rex was good early in the season, presumably because the NFL hadn't figured out he can't handle the blitz.


That'll be the key, IMO. If Rex fires of a 50 yard TD early, they'll win. If they do little early on, it's a toss up; if they get down early, their goose is cooked.

Urlacher might, but he might be one of the only ones. Besides, the D only gave up 1 TD.

Rex won't be spectacular, the D will be better because they are healthier than they have been the past few weeks. That will be the key, the D will look much better than we have seen it lately. Like I said before, if Seattle were better I would be worried, but they did not impress me.

Well, Matt, Eric Allen agrees with you. I heard him on Cowherd this morning and he couldn't stop laughing when Cowherd said the "Bears would roll". He laughed for a good 15 seconds and then said there was "no way" the Bears go to the Super Bowl. The NFC championship was in NO this weekend was his quote.

Interesting. I'm of the same mind as him. You're right when you say the competition sucks, but I really believe the Bears showed their mettle against GB. This team is a fraud, pure and simple. I'll be mildly surprised if they win this first game, but shocked beyond belief if they manage to win two weeks in a row and make the SB. That said, they'd no doubt get humiliated in the SB, so maybe that isn't a bad thing.

Manning 3 Interceptions

Hasselbeck 2 Interceptions

Garcia 153 yards on 54% completions

Brady 212 yards

There was not a single great game out of that group. Brady was efficient but not eye catching. None of these quarterbacks needed to win the game for their team. In fact, at least two might have been an impediment to success.

This game is not going to be one or lost with Rex. Alternatively, I think you can make a bigger case that this game is going to be won or lost with Hasselback. I like the Bears chances under those circumstances.

I'm sure this game will indeed be "one," but not won or lost.

I disagre, GD. If the Bears do lose, there's a really good chance it will be because of Rex. Alternately, if by some miraculous happenstance he plays well, they could win because of him.

Seattle was the best possible of the 3 before the weekend. I'm not just speaking as a Bears homer here. But Dolphin is correct. The Seahawks have no chance.

--They are beat up.

--They are traveling from Seattle and playing a Noon game. Which for them will be like a 10am game. Not the biggest reason but a factor.

--I heard Homgrem's entire post game talk on NFL network. The Dallas win was this years Super Bowl to them. They are content with advancing one game with all of the injuries and problems they have this year.

--Alexander is not the same back as last year.

--Plus the Bears just have more talent and are playing at home. There is a reason Vegas put them as 8.5 favorites.


The last two Bears playoff games vs Philly and Carolina I was optimistic but not very confident. I am extremely confident in this game.
