I wouldn't say this is a step in the right direction, but the McCaskeys are at least facing the correct way. Lets see what they do with the coaching staff and Ted Phillips, as well as who they hire. If its somebody from within, its just rinse and repeat.

Two football names with longtime relationships with the McCaskey family are Bill Polian and Mike Holmgren. #Illtakeeither

Brad Biggs brought up a fair point. What would you rather have: Emery picking new coach or Phillips and Georgie Boy picking our new GM?

As an aside, I always get a little uncomfortable actively cheering and celebrating people getting fied.

That said, good day for the Bears.

If they hire a GM from within the Bears organization, then all of these firings are moot. They need both a coach and a GM from the outside, and said coach and GM need to have 100% control over the roster.

Yeah,a little different when they are millionaires but I liked Trestman as a person.

Agreed, that's why the Chris Ballard rumors from the same titled thread would be counterproductive to this move.

I wish them both the best. Seemed like good guys. Which is why they failed in the NFL.

Shitcan Phillips too.

Anyone know if George asked Trestman to me a mensch and leave that checklist behind?

Trestman was a decent guy who got walked on by the players. They knew w/ his personality he wasn't going to crack heads.

I'm not against the firing but who is going to replace him? If you can get Rex Ryan that would be great. Are we going to go w/ a first time head coach who will learn on the job?

No correlation between the two. Fine, they might seem like good guys, but I don't know even after the handling of the Kromer situation and the Cutler character assassination using Fox Sports the week of his benching. Of course if the decisions was made weeks ago he had nothing to lose. I digress though, their failure had nothing to do with being good guys. Emery couldn't draft or hire well (McClellan, Mel Tucker, Trestman, etc..). Trestman came in with a history of having his scheme figured out in year two or three at the latest.

OK, not the only reason they failed, one of the reasons. I don't think you can treat football players like reasonable adults.

He didn't treat them as reasonable adults though. Most of his tactics would not have worked with elementary school kids.

Alternating lockers and trying to meet someone new at lunch every day? These players thought he was a joke.

So when you think your boss does something silly, you try to undermine him and don't do your job? I doubt it if you are employed.
