Somebody had it. I forget who. The OC for the Broncos and the DC for the Cardinals.

What? Don't do it this way. Don't hire the coach and then the GM cuz you'll limit the good GMs. They'll want to hire the coach and won't come here.

Unless they're just touching base to say hold on until we get our GM. Which would be smart.

None of the names excite me much.

i dont get the love for the OC of the broncos.... Gase. what has he done to warrant any HC interview? are people just assuming that since the previous bronco OC mike mccoy has guided the chargers to slightly above mediocre (9-7, 9-7) in his first 2 years that any broncos OC is HC material?

I really thought that George learned his lesson this time...but after watching the Bears presser yesterday it is clear that George & his family trust & depend on Teddy. Teddy has a stronghold on the Bears & the McCaskeys. Teddy has worked for the Bears for 30 years & he knows more about the Bears organization & operations than any of the McCaskeys.
I am disappointed to hear that none of the Bears head coaching & GM candidates on their short list have been a head coach or GM before. Of the GM candidates, I like Marc Ross. Of the head coach candidates, I don't think much of any off them.

Would anyone be surprised if Rex Ryan got the head coach job, & Chris Ballard the GM gig?

Not that excited by the names so far. I am pretty sure the coach will be after the GM.

I don't know why but I hope they talk to Josh McDaniels. I think he was humbled by his last go around. He went back to Belichick and had a couple more years of grooming. I know he was a dick the last go around and the Tebow decision was baffling but I think he is ready for another shot.

I don't even see how Gase is worth even talking to.

Yeah, unless he's bringing Peyton Manning with him.

I give McDaniels credit for realizing that Cutler was a loser.

Smart move. Knock out preliminary interviews now, while you have an extra week, to make things easier once the GM gets on board.

Agreed.

In terms of retreads, I rank my level of excitement by:

1. Shanahan
2. Kubiak
3. Ryan

First times:

1. Bowles
2. Really no one else.

I like Bowles.

Any OC Manning works with doesn't do anything, since he basically runs the show. Similarly, McDaniels sucks because Brady makes him look better than he is.

I wouldn't mind getting Bowles in here, with maybe Rex as DC, and some seasoned OC (preferably another former HC).

I'm assuming Roman may be out in SF with the coaching change, a staff of Bowles (HC), Ryan (DC), and Roman (OC) would be good.

Zero chance Rex takes a DC job. Strictly HC or TV.

I am with you on this. I could deal with a couple more retreads and maybe throw Bevell on the list of first time coaches but that would be it. We know Bowles is running the show because Arians is an offensive guy. Even Bevell hasn't done anything great with the offense in Seattle. The guy in Detroit took over an already great defense. Clements looks great because of Aaron Rodgers. That was proven last year.

He is going to be interviewed by the 49ers for their opening.

I for one am shocked that Todd Bowles, a black coach, doesn't excite you. Never saw that coming.

You do know that Marc Ross is black, right?

Can you site a racist post of mine?

I can cite numerous posts, as can many others, of your lack of sensitivity and understanding toward the poor and people of color.

And you used the term racist, not me. That's fascinating in and of itself.

I don't think Orton would be interested though clearly it would be a home run hire.

If the Bears are going to screw this up, then lets screw it up with Singletary.

Can you imagine B&B

Bills set to interview Shanahan. If Shanny wants the Bears, he'll wait for the GM. Still, I think Teddy and Phil should do an interview with him just to let him know that this could be an option.

This writer suggests that the Bills could trade for Cutler if Shanny gets the Bills job. That's certainly plausible.
