He may be a late 2nd round target. That's questionable.

He's not getting to 9. Everything the Lions have done so far in free agency points to taking him

That's getting too heavy if he wants to make his $$$ as a 3 tech/sack guy. You can find fat boys with questionable motors in round 4 and 5. Let the Lions have Nick Fairley Jr.

I don't like drafting guys who don't love playing football.

Liked him at 313, love him at 323.

Took two or three guys to block him in college before he packed on another 9 pounds.

OK. I give. He's a head case. I find this actually worse than racing cars. Like Dolphin said, this shows he doesn't care much for football.

Maybe he’s tanking the pre-draft so that he doesn’t end up in Detroit.

Whatever it takes to get YOU PEOPLE to see he wasn't worth an early first round investment.

Williams was a good short yardage back who was brought in to spare swift from taking damage in between the tackles. He scored TDs largely because the offense as a whole moved the ball a lot. I think he's fairly average

He had over 1K yards last year. The same amount of 1K season as Monty. They have a nearly identical career YPC (Williams actually slightly better). I agree that he is fairly average but they are nearly identical runners. Monty's value is in his well rounded game he isn't good enough to take catches from Swift so that value added is lost. Monty went from a 3 down back to a 2 down back with this move. It was probably his best offer and probably well above the Bears offer.

I agree - it's a strange move and probably something he settled for. Agreed on the loss of value added due to Swift's presence. Maybe DET is thinking we get a poor man's Swift in Monty if Swift loses more time to injuries.

Come-on. Unless there is some criminal shit in his personnel filed that none of us know about. If he is there at 9, they will take him. Yeah there is a bit of a risk but the reward would be impressive. I don't think that he will be there. I think they will end up drafting the big OT from Ohio State.

I still find it amazing that the Bears have only signed two free agents on both the offensive and defensive lines, with one of them only being significant. The phrase "games are won in the trenches" seems to be a foreign concept to Poles.

I didn't think the offensive line was awful. The defensive line absolutely sucked, though. That said, I would like to sign Brown Jr and target the defensive line in the first 2 rounds.

The offensive line does have gaping holes at both RT and C, but I think they feel comfortable with some combination of Davis (G), Jenkins (G) and Jones (T). We don't know if Whitehair or Patrick will play any role in the offensive line next season yet. It would be surprising if they don't add 1-2 more OL options in free agency or with one of their top 4 picks in the draft.

Defensive line is still a work in progress and won't be as solidfied as the back 7 currently looks. Jones and Gipson will likely be part of the rotation. The new free agent, Walker, will be play both DE/DT, and is part of that rotation. Obviously, there's more that is needed here, not just more talent, but also bodies to fill out the rotation, much less depth. They must think that Robinson, who was in the rotation as a rookie, can take a step forward and maybe a veteran like Pennal can fill out the rotation, but it's currently a bad DL. Saying that, it's not done, and will get better, but unless they land Carter (and he works out), it's hard to see this line being better than average (if everything works out). Realistically, they are still going to add 1-2 more players in free agency and at one early pick on the DL so I can see their 7 or 8 man rotation, but it's going to have plenty of unproven players, rookies and middle of the road veterans.

I find it amazing that people are judging the lines in the middle of March. Can we at least wait til after the draft to see what they do before we go crazy?

If the lines as they are currently when they go into the season then by all means flip the fuck out.

You have two gaping holes on the offensive line, and three to four gaping holes on the defensive line. Do you think it's all going to be solved via the draft?

How many NFL teams have zero players they drafted in 2019 on their roster?

Montgomery was not really a fit for the zone run scheme and his running style insures he will miss significant time each year.

Had hopes for Ebner as a pass catcher, but he couldn't learn the playbook, so your likely drafting a back in the 4th or 5th round.
