I disagree, Matt. If you feel that your team is not practicing properly or keeping its focus, it's your responsibility to get it back on track. Teams have "team meetings" when team leaders see this stuff happening....but the good teams don't wait until after losses to have them. To me, this is a sign of a lack of leadership. If Harris saw a let down, then others did too. And nobody called a team meeting to address it? Not a good sign.

Shouldn't Lovie jump into this and refocus his team? He's only the freakin' Coach!

The more I hear Tommie Harris talk, the less I want to hear him.

Couldn't agree more, Bumpkin. After reading his comments in the Trib this morning, Harris clearly is clueless about leadership. But Lovie better not be. I guess Grossman wasn’t the only one talking about the Giants and dissing the Fins last week. (Quotations below from today's Miami Herald and South Florida Sun Sentinel)

Defensive end Adewale Ogunleye had tried to downplay the meeting with his former team during the week, saying the Dolphins were in his past, and the Staten Island, N.Y., native was more geared up for the Bears' upcoming games at the Giants and Jets. That is when the Bears' schedule was supposed to get difficult -- a game at New England Nov. 6 caps a three-game road stretch. That is when talk of perfection was expected to reach a fevered pitch, when the '72 veterans could really have started sweating.

"I read in the Chicago papers how we had no chance and it was going to take a miracle for us," said Taylor said, who also last week sarcastically referred to Chicago as "the almighty Bears" because of the praise being heaped on the franchise by the media. "Come on. We're professionals. We're grown men. We have a lot of pride. It's uncalled for to speak about somebody like that."
-----
Seems like maybe the Bears players need to learn a little media discipline about what they say about their upcoming opponents. They could take a lesson from Giants coach Tom Coughlin. Here is how Coughlin responded to questions about the Bears last week prior to their Houston game. (From last Thursday's Trib)

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Mentioning the Bears to New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin wasn't the right thing to do Wednesday, not with the Houston Texans coming to town this weekend.

As soon as Coughlin heard the word "Bears," his tone changed and his voice conveyed anger.

"We don't think about that at all," a testy Coughlin said. "This next game is the most important game of our schedule, OK? I don't even want to entertain questions about that. The next game is the most important game that we'll play, and that's against Houston."

OB said this morning on Pappy's funhouse that the Bears are the only team in the NFL that does NOT run the shotgun.

If Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Matt freakin' Leinart can run it, so can the Bears. They need to adapt to changing game plans and make the needed changes to win games.

Larry probably never played QB at any level....
he's wrong.
the time it takes to snap a ball is less than the time it takes for a 7 step drop.

Where the FUCK were the screen passes, the hitch routes, draws, throwing to a WR at the line, slant patterns, basic fucking things you do to stop the blitz, they blitzed every fucking play. Are the coaches so stubburn that they refuse to make adjustments, did they learn from the Panther game?

If this is true, Larry should be fired. The shotgun is obviously one of the best ways to beat the blitz.

they haven't learned all year.
throwing 30 yard bombs to the outside on 2nd and 8, do not work.

the idea is to throw or run to the blitzing areas....why?
b/c nobody is there.

i think there were two slant patterns yesterday.
one was dropped and one ball was fumbled.

Yes...20 yard gain. Why not go back to that?

I don't think the season is ruined. this isn't Texas H.S. football.

I don't care how many losses the Bears have as long as they win the last game of the year.

Midge....I guess I just did.

Is there a section on this board for overreaction of the year?

Yup. The media does it too. "Michael Vick is the greatest thing since sliced bread." Next week: "Michael Vick doesn't have the accuracy to be a great QB in this league." You can't make large-scale judgements based on single games in this league; this has been proved time and time again this season.

Bears better do some learnin' real fuckin fast.

The Patriots and Colts played great today.

Colts = undefeated
Pats = will advance farther than the Bears.

Both teams have QB's better than Grossman.

Simple fact.

That's a fact.

Wow. I guess Miami is a real fucking powerhouse Nas.

The Colts win game after game, good team or bad team. You don't get extra points for playing pretty.

You can be the flagship Kool-aid drinker if you want to be. Just don't come back here when the Bears tank and say, "You know, I thought Grossman was a year or two away from being good...", or some bullshit like that.

Oh yeah. That Arizona team is a worldbeater too. I don't believe the Bears beat them by much either.

You will never hear me say anything like that. Just look at my signature. I'm all or nothing. Miami isn't a bad team. They just have a bad record. I guarantee you didn't think they would start the season that bad. It's amazing to me how critical you can be of the Bears (you say you are a fan) but dismiss the obvious flaws of other teams. Either you are not a Bears fan or you don't know anything about football. I'm starting to think it's the latter. Watch a game or look at the stats. Maybe that will help you.

First off, I watch a hell of a lot of football.
Second, just because I'm not "All or nothing" (like that means anything) does not mean my opinion or observations don't count.

I, like most rational people, am OBJECTIVE about my sports teams. I am not convinced the Bears can beat teams like the Pats because of the pedigree of players like Tom Brady and coaches like Bill Belichek.

Just because you look at things as black and white doesn't mean your opinions are right or wrong.

And don't be so fucking patronizing Nas. You come off like a jackass.

Just because one team is perceived to be "better" than another, does not mean they should never lose to them. The best teams do not always win, nor should they. It is an unrealistic expectation to believe the better team should always win. There are many reasons, but one I believe many people ignore is that a chart of human performance over time in any endeavor is not a straight line. There are deviations from the mean. Every person, and every team, has aberrations in their performance. This is normal. It should not be viewed as abnormal or even unusual.

Agreed. I came here last week looking for an outlet; I wanted to pound the Bears for their shitty performance. But Nas put it in perspective, and it made me step back and realize that any team can lay an egg. A lot of people wanted to battle Nas for sticking with the Bears, but with the NFL you never know. You have to keep an even keel. I, for one, salute Nas for sticking to his guns, even after a game that made it very difficult to do so.

...and wasted but I imagine the buffalo wings, nachos, burgers and beer probably made your post correct as well.

I would be willing to give up memorial day or labor day to have the day after a night game declared a holiday.
