He's definitely been the best QB in our division.

So what.

Just pointing out something everyone can agree on. I'm all about unity.

After 3 games so what.

I guess the first 3 games of the season didn't count. Things just got much better for Green Bay.

The thesis of this thread is Jay Cutler is an MVP candidate because he's been a game manager. WTF?!?!?

Nas,
Given your thoughts in this thread, please provide your prediction of Cutler's year end statistics.

Doesn't matter. The games didn't count.
Bigfan, please prune all threads with sports thoughts until each respective season is over. Thanks.

Game managers don't account for 88% of their team total offense. A game manager isn't 2nd in the NFL in touchdowns and interceptions.

It is. Whatever his best statistical year he's had as a Bear will be surpassed this year. I believe that you may even like him by the time the season is over.

The Bears are 25th with 29.42 yards/drive while generating 2.06 points/drive (15th overall).

What I see is a QB benefitting from short fields. He been a good game manager. We all saw in the Bills game what happens when you depend on Cutler to win the game. Cutler has embraced the Miller/Grossman/Orton directive of "don't fuck up".

I wouldn't go that far. He's played well against some good defenses and limited (injured) offensive weapons. But really, he's been the same guy. Great quarters and awful quarters (inconsistency), great individual plays by his receivers, an opportunistic defense, and a lot of luck (his errors have not yet been capitalized on outside of game 1.)

What we have here is a classic case of a small sample size.

Where he's been amazing is the red zone. Bears are 1 or 2 in TD%. Is that Cutler? Or is it Marshall, Jeffries and Bennett?

Both. But again, it's a very small sample size. I hope it continues, but I think it will average out.

Yes it is a small sample size but considering the circumstances I believe it is something to get excited about. The Jay Cutler we knew in the past would have had 3+ interceptions a game and we would be 0-3 if he was missing his favorite receivers or they were limited. He actually hasn't forced the ball to Marshall and he's making good decisions. He has thrown more than 1 interception in only 2 games in the past year.

The NFL folks/writers once elected a kicker as the '82 MVP.

And 12-13 years later elected a hapless DB who was gifted interceptions by a joke of a Pitt QB as the Super Bowl MVP.

I haven't paid attention to NFL awards ever since.

The Hank Scorpio once elected mayo as MVP of condiments.

And 12-13 years later elected woman bush as the Super Bowl MVP of underrated stuff.

I haven't paid attention to Hank Scorpio thoughts ever since.

I'm not crazy... Mustard is the MVP of condiments. Tons of variety and can go on anything. Doesnt mean mayo isnt awesome though.

And if you cant appreciate a good bush then you have been brainwashed by our wimp filled society. A true man with the blood of his caveman ancestors pumping thru his veins knows how wonderful a big full bush really is.

So in just 3 games we can make this conclusion?

Yes. Those 3 games are in the books. He's clearly been the best player on offense and this is his best start to a season.

Brandon Marshall has easily been their best offensive player. Jay was just waiting to lose that SF game when Marshall stepped up and basically single handedly took over. That one TD pass was a fucking terrible throw and he still somehow snatched it with one hand. Jay is really lucky to have a guy like that to bail him out.

It would be easier to make a case for Kyle Fuller as MVP than Cutler.
