All you people calling for more run plays, are you actually watching the games? Forte sucks and the run blocking for some time has sucked. The only thing Forte is good at is running into the backs of our offensive lineman 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage. He has no vision at all. And what about Forte's whiff on the pass block that cost a sack?

Add getting a new running back to the list of the things that the Bears need.

You have to keep Cutler. He's all the Bears got. Despite getting killed today, he kept balling until almost the very end. The only reason the Bears were in the game at all in the second half is because he made some excellent completions down the field on 3rd and long after inept playing calling on 1st and 2nd downs and penalties. He really does have a hell of an arm. If only he had a line that could actually protect him. And if you're not going to protect him, at least roll him out so he doesn't get killed all the time, like he was asking for this week.

I've never seen such shitty playing calling as I did today. How many wide receiver screens today for no yardage? What about running a screen on 1st down after a change of possession with 2 minutes on the clock before the end of the first half against the best defensive line in the league, next to the Eagles? How effing stupid can you be?

How can you win when most of your plays run laterally and not vertically, Trestman?

I give Stafford credit for how he played today. Best game I ever saw him play, he was unstoppable.

Forte is the best player on the team and by far the most valuable offensive player. He's allowed to make an occasional mistake.

Forte is as overrated as they come. He is a drive killer as soon as they hand him the ball.

So .... about the last thing I actually saw was them announcing Conte had a concussion (which, to be honest, is like announcing today is Thursday), and then I saw towards the end (I guess?) when the score said 34-17 or something ... who wants to tell me what happened in between and, perhaps, after?

Not that this thread isn't good ... it is ... just figure somebody somewhere might want to fire off a summary and just needed a reason ... or something.

Once I started watching the game the Bears offense only managed to score 3 points.

DT, the defense couldn't stop the Lions and the offense couldn't sustain a drive for points. It was almost every bit as pathetic a game as the Pats and Packers games were.

Rube, you are out of your element. There are dozens of problems with this team and the offense. Matt Forte is not one of them.

Yeah, Forte is the only consistent player on this team. I really don't think that's a stretch. He singled out the only consistent player on the team.

'Rube' is a fucking moron ... this just in ... moving on.

I guess I quit watching about the right time because I got up from watching the game kinda dejected because it seemed like it might be a good effort from the lads ... interesting that it apparently turned into a shitfest like the previous two games against real teams was.

The reflexive position to take from today's game would normally be something akin to "well, at least that loss might improve out draft position and hasten needed change", but there's not any real reason to have confidence that any good will come out of this offseason except by happenstance or dumb luck.

We could do a Kickstarter to let me make the pick.

I have some real ideas.

Cutler got killed yesterday. His offensive line is terrible. The play calling is completely inept. And on top of that, he has no running game to help him, because Forte sucks. Forte's only decent outside the tackles, never between the tackles. He has never been able to get a tough yard his entire career, like he couldn't do again on the goal line yesterday, which is why the Bears have brought in other running backs for that, who also have been no good.

How many times yesterday did Cutler have to overcome sacks, penalties, dropped passes by Marshall and Bennett, and stupid wide receiver screens for no yardage? That happened every drive except the two drives they scored TDs on. On the the second to last drive in the first half, Cutler was moving the offense nicely and had thrown a 20 yard pass to Bennett before it was brought back because of the Garza holding penalty. This is what I'm talking about.

If they replaced Garza and got a new right tackle, Cutler and the offensive might have a chance to be good. But there is no reason Marshall with all his drops should be on the team next year, nor should Forte. They have to get a guy who at least can keep the defense honest in accounting for the running game. Forte is no longer that guy. Why do you want to give Forte more carries when he gets six yards on five carries?

Now that you've pointed out that Jay is the only qb in the league that has to deal with those things you're right. I'm doing a 180 on him. It's the rest of the team that's bad, not him.
The scales have been removed.

Nobody is even "decent" up the middle against Detroit. Probably should just sit this one out, Rubey.

Who's talking just Detroit? It's every game that Forte is no good up the middle.

No back in the history of the league has made a career of running into the backs of his own offensive lineman like Forte has.

The play calling this season has been atrocious. Anything over 3rd and 6 and they are doing a screen. Which they don't have the guys that can block down field for. Just fire the whole staff now and I'll chalk this season up as a positive.

The problem with the Packers is Rodgers scoring too quickly sometimes. Quick strikes mess up the rhythm of everyone else around him and forces the defense to get back on the field quicker than they'd like to. That's probably why they are eliminated in the first round a lot due to the defense becoming tired over the season and collapsing in the playoffs. If they can replace Rodgers with a QB not interested in his own stats then they'd be better equipped for postseason success

I agree and would love to see house cleaning, but Trestman has one year left on his deal and I'm pretty sure the band will be back together next year.

Same here. I think we realize the glorious Mel Tucker era will end, but as long as Cutler, Emery, and Trestman are around, it'll be nice to not have to worry about taking the Bears seriously.
