Everett took less to escape Herbert and play for the Bears.

is the pay scale to the point that backup TE's now get $6M per year?

Still need a center, another WR and another pass rusher

They run a multiple TE offense. Everett protects them from being forced to draft another one.

Definitely a position of need; I've liked what I've seen from Everett on the Chargers so optimistic on this signing.

Several of his highlights were Herbert throwing him open in the middle of the field, plays that Fields never makes, seems they are signing guys that can catch checkdowns on the backside of plays and take what the defense gives you, this is a foreign concept to Fields, so these all seem to be signings for the next QB.

The offense is still short two WR's, a starting center, a backup vet QB and NFL level depth at guard, tackle, and TE.

Hunter supposedly wants a deal similar to Burns in the $30 million a year range, not sure if Poles is gonna pull the trigger on that deal.

The same approach Poles has taken since he took over, bring in a bunch of solid NFL players on somewhat reasonable deals with no huge splash signings.

Keeps you out of cap hell, but you have to hit on your early draft picks, if you do not your seat gets real hot real quick.

I don't particularly like either the Swift or Byard moves.

Everett was a good acquisition. He's a starting level TE.

I am with you. I do not understand the need to spend money on RB right now when you have such a glaring need at C on the oline.

especially considering that the three headed monster the Bears used at running back last year were perfectly fine

Panthers have anything left in the cupboard to trade? I'd be trying to do deals with Carolina. Isiah Thomas the GM there now or something. 'Skins hired GSW's former GM, anything's possible.

Can we at least agree to put a moratorium on “Poles has so much cap space!” conversations?

That three headed monster was atrocious last year.

The pass blocking abilities of all three didn't add up to a single player. Here's to hoping Rochon is better this year.

Capspace doesn't carry over. No point in resetting the QB clock if you're not gonna use it

Is swift known as a good pass blocker?

You are running out of upgrade options on the d line at this point, you could sign Young or Armstead to one-year deals, but you are down to just guys at this point.

He must think the new DC will be able to coach up Dexter and Pickens, can see his optimism with the young secondary, but you would think he still needs another pass rusher.

Still mystified by his approach at center, you would think that would be a top priority if he is bringing in a rookie QB, the top guys will be long gone before the third round.

Lots of overreacting to free agency. There are still teams that need to make cuts and the Bears have filled holes with good players. The Bears aren't winning the Super Bowl next year, but MANY want them to blow their load and wildly overpay to fill holes that they can fill in the draft. Poles is remaining disciplined. I like it.
