Bears probably have the lowest paid O line in the league.

i was also scared of dalton and nothing else. if that was going to be the case, i wouldnt have watched much this season. look at the fans reaction. boos for dalton, absolutely batshit for fields.

Pace seems to take a similar approach to the tackle position as the Cubs took toward starting pitching, ignore the position high in the draft and pay for FA's to fill in for the fact that you never invested a high draft pick at key positions. When you do not pick an OT in the first four rounds for 4 years you are guilty of GM malpractice. If he just would have used that 2nd round pick he reached for Shaheen with or not traded up for Miller and used that pick, he likely would have a guy that could step in and be at least a competent replacement for Leno or Massie.

It would seem your first quarter plays would be ones you have scripted after scouting the opponent, plays that attack weakness in the oppositions defense, so either Nagy and his staff are totally inept at breaking down the opposing teams defense, or he's just too dumb to develop a game plan that should work.

It has seemed at times that he is overmatched, completely outcoached by the opposing DC, in fact in a few games it looked like the oppositions defense knew exactly what was coming leading to a first quarter filled with negative plays and three and outs. It would seem the only hope this team has is if Fields is able to break the pocket and make up for poor play calls.

Who taps Nagy on the shoulder if the offense struggles early and says, "Matt, if you have any intention of remaining a head coach in the NFL you need to give up play calling immediately", but I thought that happened last year?

Completely agree. That stat would get any offensive coordinator fired.

The Bears have been a horrible first half offense the past two seasons and the preseason this year was no different. Before Fields threw that 20 yard TD pass into double coverage with a minute left he only had 34 passing yards in the first half against backups. Lol I have a feeling this season is going to be fun bad.

I have a hard time putting this on Nagy. OL is terrible and the WR get zero separation. It's just not a very talented team. That's more on Pace.

Nagy is becoming the Jay Cutler of Bears coaches. Nothing he does (or doesn’t do) can ever actually be him being bad at his job. It’s always ‘but he’s never had this’ or ‘but if he just had this one thing it would be different’.

You would also think zero playoffs wins in 7 years and screwing up the franchise QB pick would get a GM fired but this is the Bears.

Not sure how much of this section you read, but Nagy gets plenty of heat here.

Cutler did too -but there were also people making excuses at a decent rate as well.

You might be confusing "excuses" for "objectivity" here. If Nagy schemes someone wide open but the dude falls on the play, that's still a good play call. Sounds like you'd still be unsatisfied even if out of 100 posts about Nagy, 90 are critical and 10 were positive. Can't be all or nothing.

Nagy is good at gimmick plays and horrible at game planning. He's good if your plan is not working and the head coach says, "Hey Nagy, come up with something to get him open for a TD."

I don't disagree - as a HC it's not clear what he does well beyond leadership qualities. When he leaves, I don't envision any team out there ringing his doorbell.

In Year 1 the opposite was true for like the first 11 games. His scripted plays were great and pretty much everything else sucked. Now it all sucks.

Neither Pace or Nagy will get another GM or HC NFL job.

Pace has been an NFL executive for 15 years.

I doubt he cares if he ever gets another job. It's FU money at this point.

Not for nuthin’, but Draft Day is on and I’ve long assumed that movie taught Ryan Pace how to be an NFL GM.

Look, if I respond to a ridiculous criticism directed at one of my posts by accurately pointing out its flawed logic and the poster I’m responding to is too dense to comprehend their fallacy.. my post is still a good post.

If you want to talk about logic then make sure you understand logic. When I say someone falls down on a Nagy play that's a hypothetical. If I wanted to make an excuse I would bring up an actual play from a season and excuse Nagy for its failed execution. Or pull up stats and excuse how horrid they are. Did I? No. That you think bringing up a hypothetical is tantamount to excusing Nagy is an error on your part, not mine.

I also literally said Nagy is basically un-hireable a few posts later and yet you want to imagine I fall into your little excuses camp. Try harder.

Now you’re just making excuses for your excuses. You should go back to posting in the basketball section. You won’t be right about anything you post about basketball, but at least you won’t be wrong about football when doing it. So there’s that.

While I’d do it if I was owner or gm, you know this won’t happen. At best play calling gets stripped from him and I doubt even that happens. Hell if I was owner I’d be so reactionary Dan Snyder would tell me to calm down.
