I kind of have to hope he’s correct. Fields’ development is the only thing that actually matters for the Bears this year.

He couldn't hit the 5-foot wide net in throwing drills on Wednesday!

Can we issue a moratorium on mentioning this tidbit?

Please and thanks

It’s not going to be decided this year if he’s bad. It’s going to be “ it was a new front office, his offensive line sucked, it’s the first year with a new offense’ it’s not fair to judge him on one year “ etc

Graham Jr. has been out, so maybe he's worse off than fans think.

Jeremy Fowler
@JFowlerESPN
The Chicago Bears are signing four-year veteran cornerback and special teamer Davontae Harris, per source.

The best thing that could happen is that Fields proves he is worth being the Bears quarterback for the next 10 years. The next best thing that could happen is that Fields proves he isn't worth being the Bears quarterback next year.

On the flipside, the worst thing that could happen is that he shows himself to be special, and then gets injured. The second worst thing is that he doesn't prove one way or the other and gets injured, pushing back the assessment another year.

On a positive note, Fields should be a more effective runner this season, there will be more roll outs, and play action will be a staple of the offense.

All of that will help Fields find himself as an NFL QB.

Kmet on new coach in 2024 "Thank god we have a coach who treats us like human beings."

Bears TE Cole Kmet: "That was probably the hardest practice I've ever been a part of. ... It's good for us to get in shape and see how we execute when we're tired. ... Tempo, speed, physicality, the whole thing."

New coach in 2024? Harbaugh or maybe he’s playing for the Patriots.

It's just my theory, but I think Poles was forced to hire Eberflus as a condition for taking the job. If Eberflus has two brutal seasons, Poles can fire him and hire his own guy for 2024.

I just dont see how that can be the case. He had other opportunities when the Bears hired him. Why would he not even look into those situations to take a job where he is told what coach to hire? Doesn't add up. It is not like he had no other options and he had to take the Bears job.

It's the Bears so it could very well be the case.
That being said....this jobs come around once in a lifetime. You get a offer, you take it....it's likely the last offer / chance you get.

Yeah I see what you are saying.

But he could have at least listened to the offers of other teams before taking Bears job.

And I guess there could be a situation where he was not told about who he was to hire until after he took job. But that would be really fucked up as well. But it is the Bears.

Poles was likely going to be offered the job in Minnesota. The Bears offered him their job to prevent him from talking with the Vikings. They did not "force" Eberflus on him, though I'm sure he "listened" carefully to Polian regarding his assessment of the available coaching candidates.

Wasn't there a report that Polian was not happy with being left out of the choice for coach?

I don't recall, but I know Eberflus was one of his guys.

Whatever the case, it doesn't appear that the Bears were in a position to dictate a coaching selection to Poles.
