I don't know about being smarter, but Sanborn has had a great season for the Bear's. He has good speed at his position and does a great job finishing tackles. I'd say that he has been the best over-all defensive player that the bear's have.

Sanborn is nowhere near as athletic but will take a straight line to the play instead of running around blockers, Edmunds takes an extra half second to recognize the play which negates his speed advantage, he should be way better in coverage, but his lack of instinct and soft approach to LB play makes him an average MLB.
