Let's pause the bitching after a win to give Eberflus, the entire defense, and the ST their flowers. Darrell Taylor looked like a steal today. Billings and Dexter are monsters in the middle.

What exactly did Flus do to merit flowers?

He calls the plays for the unit that is primarily responsible for the Bears being undefeated.

Kept the team focused heading into the 2nd half. Would have been real easy for them to think this was not their day and look ahead to next week. Anyone that has been a Bears fan for any length of time has seen that song and dance before.

After getting outcoached in the first half, he adjusted and embarrassed the Callahans in the second half.

I’d counter that having VJJ anywhere near a football and hiring Shane Waldron are glaring issues. And don’t get me going on Poll’s criminal lack of offensive line upgrades.

Velus is a Poles issue more than Flus. I won't argue that.

Waldron has led the offense for 1 week. That is it. No way anyone knows if he is a good or bad hire.

And the OL issues are again on Poles.

VJJ needs to be cut, he’s going to cost them football games they cannot afford to lose.

Agreed. Anotioch and I can stop by and pick you up on our way to cut him.

Titans did what everyone else will do to the Bears offense, attack the below average center and guards, really hard to run your offense when the DT is in your backfield all day, as Jurko has said, the Bears decided to go out and spend all kinds of money on pretty drapery, but went cheap on the foundation.

Bates at C and Pryor at RG would have made much more sense today against Simmons and Sweat, Shelton and Davis were getting bitch slapped around early and often, you needed to at least have some size on the inside. Poles tends to fall in love with guys and give them way too many chances to fail, the Nate Davis experiment should end soon, at best he is a small guard that can move, at worst the is a small guard that gets overpowered at the point of attack.

Caleb Williams had never encountered a monster like Jeffrey Simmons before, hopefully he will learn that there are certain alpha males in the NFL that you have to respect and game plan around.

I would like to believe having tape on the defense will be helpful to the offense next week. They looked confused and unprepared. Tyler Scott shouldn't have been inactive.

He's gonna have to help the tackles next week by either keeping a TE in to block or chipping the DE's with a back.

Some ugly performances by NFL offenses across the league, teams do not play anybody in the preseason and it shows.

Maybe the hours Caleb spent listening to Flus regurgitate stuff he had read from the leadership books that Poles gave him would have been better spent doing something else, and all the time Poles spent crying over journeyman DBs would have been better spent talking to Connor Williams or agent or pursuing Mitch Morse.

I was told by those in the know (CFMB Gurus) that superior quarterbacking can compensate for terrible line play. I was also told that vague, non measureables like "pocket awareness" are all you need to make up for shitty line play. Now it's the line that is the problem. Hmmm interesting

It can. Burrow is the best, most recent example.

Problem is that Caleb was outright bad today. I’m looking forward to some of the deep dive stuff that’ll come out later this week to see whether he was missing open guys (outside of the overthrow to Allen) or if the whole offense was shit.

I'm not concerned about the offense after one game. Of course, I would prefer that they not suck like this again. A win makes everything better.

It's odd that LTG is trying to take a victory lap after Caleb played his first game, but I would expect nothing less from the Fields Cult. It's not lost on me that, even in Game 1, no one is excusing Caleb's shit play or suggesting that he would have been great if everyone around him didn't fail him.

The Bears are 5-0. They may be the last undefeated team.

If you're the Titans defense, you close the door on the plane and tell the pilot to take off, leaving the offense and special teams and the Callahan kid on the tarmac in Chicago. Brian Callahan's the JD Vance of NFL head coaches. Why the hell did they get rid of Vrabel anyhow.

There are plenty who are excusing it actually. It's the O-line's fault now. The same O-Line that you said wasn't a problem last year for Justin Fields. They are also excusing it by claiming that Waldron's play calling was the problem. Not Caleb's play. It's just one game, but there was nothing to suggest today that he is that dude.
And his situation is different than probably any No. 1 Overall QB selection in history given his supporting cast on both offense and defense. Both are capable of winning a game for ya currently. He just has to be good or even serviceable. Today he was neither.

I believe the Bears have won their last 6 home games, not counting the preseason.

Everyone knows Williams played poorly. He needs to be better but that's how it goes with rookie quarterbacks. Fields was horrendous in his first start with the Bears and just look how great he turned out as a quarterback.

The greatest first round quarterbacks sucked in their first game. A ton of turnovers and blowout losses.

Bears can't wait for the off-season for O-line help. Might be time to part with some of the draft capital.

my thoughts on Caleb after not watching a Bears game since the 80s:

He had a bunch of nice throws
He had a couple bad throws
no turnovers
had a nice run
should've had a TD but for a bad drop
His O-line did him no favors

I think he just needs to catch up to the speed of the game. It would help if his o-line put at least a finger on the 300+ pound defensive players running through the middle of the line.

Williams sucked without turnovers. Turnovers would almost be better. Manning, Favre, et al had a metric fukton of turnovers their first season. Unless your name's Jameis Winston, QB's tend to reduce their turnovers as they progress in the NFL.

If only Williams had turnover issues, and he hasn't (so far, only 1 freaking game), then, yeah, those other eventual HoF comps track.

Williams issues are embedded in being 6 foot and a ribeye tall and trying to play behind the 5 tallest guys on the roster.

Welcome to reality when the regular season starts and you have a mediocre offensive line.

Hey Brickie how about we compare the supporting cast of Both Players in their first games as professionals while we are comparing stats. Thanks

Yep and strangely enough, no one seems to want to actually "see" it?
