This guy was crying over cutting guys because he thought the depth was so good. Turns out his tenth overall pick is a complete bum.

How can anybody come to any conclusions about Williams with that FCS offensive line? It was a lousy line to start the year, and it's missing three starters.

Even so you can’t have games like this one.

I've come to the conclusion that he's a diva and not a killer. He gave up on 4th down. We all saw this same shit at USC last year. The poor me complex.

It's the very same offensive line that is in the game whenever he is being "Extremely Productive" during the 2nd half of games.

If you think 4th and 10 has a better chance of being converted (especially by this offense) than making a 57 yard kick, you don’t have an NFL quality kicker.

17 kickers have made a 57 yarder or longer this season

Correct. Santos does not have an nfl leg. It was the correct call not to kick as he can't get the ball far enough

On the plus side, we won’t read any sarcastic posts about 2nd half touchdowns not counting for at least 10 days or so.

Three points at home against the Patriots didn’t change their tune and three points at home against the Seahawks won’t change it either.

One play really stands out and exposes the idiotic approach Poles has taken in constructing this team.

Seattle sends two guys from the edge, Larry Borom does not know who to block, so both guys run by him like he is standing still, Caleb then takes a ten plus yard sack. The first breakdown is that Poles did not feel the need to sign or draft a guy to upgrade his backup tackle position, a foolish decision which has cost him several games. The next head scratcher is how poorly Borom was coached, take the inside guy, that guy has the quickest path to the QB, and the QB might be able to avoid the guy coming off the edge. The most damning and frustrating thing is that either there was no hot read audible for Caleb to check to, or Caleb was unable to read the blitz. It should have been and easy drop off to a guy standing in the area vacated by the blitzer, Stafford killed Vikes by doing that against the blitz, most good QB's will kill you when you blitz.

A total organizational breakdown starting with the inept owner hiring the wrong GM, who picked the wrong players, and then hired the wrong coaches.

This is my take on the whole evaluating Caleb conversation. Until you have the basics in place for him to study, you can't say he is a bust because he is playing blind with this horrible coaching staff and Oline.

I'm probably about to open an absolutely terrible conversation but it's kind of damning that no one anywhere has the #1 overall in the conversation for Rookie of the Year. I saw a column that had Drake Maye but not Caleb Williams, and the Patriots are just as bad as the Bears.

A lot of people are dramatically revising their expectations for him. Three months ago FavreFan said he greatness was inevitable, a couple weeks ago it was a very different story.

Caleb Williams went from a dude whom MANY here claimed in the summer would make the team better just by his sheer "greatness" to "Just another rookie" whom they expected to struggle mightily in a matter of weeks.

Revision of expectations is ok. It really is. You can move from "his greatness is inevitable" to slightly lower. You won't get shot for it.

The Goalposts were moved quite a bit not to appear incorrect. To the point where his suckage was completely expected because he's a rookie.

Where was the post where I said greatness is inevitable? Because that didn't happen. He was probably never going to be as good as Jordan Love. I did say that it was obvious he would be better than Jayden Daniels. That looks incorrect now but I still think it has a decent chance of being true if the Bears get this next coaching hire right. That's obviously a big if given how incompetent they are organizationally.

There are definitely moments there. The big first down after the big loss was impressive. Didn't lead to anything. But someday it could.

Williams will be at worst a league average starter next year. Top ten eventually. He's going to be the best QB we've seen in Chicago since 85.

The odds of this are literally zero. None. Nobody has ever been this bad and come around to being good in NFL history, it would be totally unprecedented. Teddy Bridgewater has a better chance of being a top ten quarterback than Caleb Williams does.

In that respect it is over. Best case now is he becomes a fringe top twenty in the NFL guy (and that would still be a historic turnaround from the level he’s currently at).

I know I'm being baited here but Alex Smith was worse as a rookie and ended up a top ten QB.

He played like a third of the season. Caleb Williams just finished his sixteenth career game and it was him completely failing to make up a three point deficit at home against a team barely hanging onto .500.

McMahon wasn’t top 10. He was average at best. If Caleb tops out at that then he will be a disappointment.
