I'm not saying Fox is a terrible coach. I just think he's an average coach. IMO he would have been a good fit to replace Lovie. He would have had the respect of the locker room and would have gotten whatever was left out of that team. They definitely would have made the playoffs in 2013 if he was the coach.

So you had to Google Foster's yards. I don't have to do that to know he was a really good RB that couldn't stay healthy. IIRC he beat out the guy Steve Smith beat up for the job. These were really good to great players. None of the players drafted after Fox came were better. This was his core. Peppers and Smith were not the only studs.

I keep trying to find a better option...I just can't. Fox isn't what I'd consider to be an "elite" coach, but he's simply the best available option.
1) HC experience with winning record
2) He will control locker room
3) He will have the ability to hire qualified, competent coordinators and assistants.

I think #3 is the most important one. Even if Seattle's coordinators become available on Monday, there's no telling they can build up the right staff. Maybe the can, but it's a gamble.

The Lovie comparisons are interesting. My biggest beef with Lovie was when he was able to wrestle power on roster and FA signings...see Arculetta, Adam. He wasn't a good gameday coach, but we see that all across the league. Lovie also struggled to get decent coordinators, but I think that had more to do with his contract not aligned with GM and uncertainty there.

Even if Fox has his blemishes and has similarities to Lovie, I think he's a step better and will be working on a better org structure.

The big difference between Lovie and Fox is that Lovie did not have HC experience when he was hired. Fox has plenty.

With the team as it stands right now I would rather see a solid, proven HC than roll the dice on the next up-and-comer. If they were in blow-up-and-rebuild mode, then I would feel differently.

Id add Foxs ability to adapt as a big difference between he and Lovie as well. I also feel Fox does a better job eying fringe talent and getting the most out of it - Lovie seemed to have a habbit of playing certain players out of position and not getting the most out of them.

Fox couldn't win with one of, if not the greatest QB, of our generation and got downright assfucked in the SB then bows out to the Colts.
