The inclusion of Kaplan's name in the headline doesn't really mean anything. It's the opinions of Kreutz and Brown that carry the most weight.

https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/sports/ ... 0sFA7VkTts

NBC5Chicago wrote:
Bears' Matt Nagy Shredded by Olin Kreutz, Alex Brown, David Kaplan

You can probably count on one hand the number of positive offensive plays that the Bears made in their 26-6 loss to the Browns in Week 3. They had one passing yard. One. They surrendered nine sacks. They averaged 1.1 yards per play, the second-worst mark in the NFL this century, per CBS Sports.

“You almost can’t even make it up, it’s that bad,” Matt Nagy said after the game.

“I obviously as a head coach did not do a good enough job of getting this offense ready to go, to be able to play and win a football game. So, it starts with me, ends with me and it’s as simple as that.”

Beyond that however, Nagy did not have many answers for the Bears’ historic struggles on offense.

“He keeps talking about the ‘why’s,’ ‘we’ve got to find the why’s,’” said Olin Kreutz on NBC Sports Chicago’s “Football Aftershow.” “Put a big mirror in your office, put ‘why’ over it, stand in front of the mirror. You found it, ok?”

Before too long, Kreutz said that message will wear out inside Halas Hall. He contends that players can only hear about fixing things for so long before they tune it out.

For Alex Brown, the problem is that Nagy keeps saying, week after week, that the Bears need to go back to the tape to assess what’s going wrong.

“This is the damn problem right here, because there’s no adjustment during the game,” Brown said. “I need you to adjust during the game. You can’t wait until Wednesday or wait until Thursday… that’s too late.”

One of the most glaring gameplan omissions noticed by fans and pundits alike was the lack of bootlegs and rollouts for Justin Fields, to help him get out of the pocket to evade the Browns' pass rush.

“We know what we wanted to do and what we were gonna try to do, they did too,” Nagy said in regards to the lack of rollouts. “They know as well. And so there’s some parts that you gotta be able to adjust if they’re gonna try to take something away that they think he does well, and you gotta be able to adjust, too… There were things that they were gonna not allow him to do.”

Like Nagy said, the Bears needed to be able to adjust to the defensive gameplan the Browns had in place. Problem is, they simply weren’t able to do it.

“You’re supposed to be the offensive guru,” Brown said. “Since you’ve been here it’s been pathetic.”

In the end, show host David Kaplan said he’s seen enough.

“Coach, you’re a really nice man,” Kaplan said. “I hear you’re a really nice person to work for. You have worn out your welcome in Chicago. It’s time for you to get a cardboard box, the checks you’re owed, and leave.”

Next five before the bye: Lions, Raiders, Packers, Bucs, Steelers (MNF). Then bye and Lions on Thanksgiving.

I did not think they would fire either Pace or Nagy in season. But if they lose to the Lions they will almost certainly start 0-7 going into two nationally televised games. The only scenario I see where they can't fire both Pace and Nagy if that happens is if Virginia dies before then and it's clear that they are selling the team.

Nagy is so bad they're going to take his win away from him!

They have the Lions at home....pretty confident they'll win that game. even if they don't....no one is getting fired. Raiders, Pack, and Bucs are likely losses. Steelers just lost at home to the Bungles....they're a beatable team, but I don't see the Bears winning that game. Bears also have the 49ers at home prior to the bye.

The Bears got embarrassed by a very good Browns team on the road. The O-line, head coach and rookie were exposed for exactly what they are. The game shouldn't have been much of a surprise to anyone. Going into the bye, it's very likely they'll be a 2 win team. They may have 3 or even 4 wins.....doesn't matter. The Bears are who we thought they are. No one is getting fired mid-season.

Well I haven't even been drinking, perhaps I should start. I meant 1-6.

 it happens to all of us.

1-6 is definitely possible. But I would say 2-5 is more likely

They will be 4-4 going into Thanksgiving.

That defensive effort yesterday is more than good enough to beat most teams. Just need the offense to hold up its end minimally.

Bears defense will be toast by week 5 after trying to carry another horrendous offense.

Just like every year.

Hub saying the Browns were expecting Fields to move around more and it's not as easy as saying the game plan was the reason the offense was so bad yesterday. His basic view is you can't overlook that Fields is a rookie and he's not ready yet. Shots fired! Bernstein annoyed with Hub lol

6 points was a miracle, and three of those were gifted by the PI call.

It has to be weird for Fields...you have a historically bad outing and everyone is blaming your coach. Can anyone recall something similar? I assume Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson are getting a lot of the blame for their poor play.

Mostly everyone seems to be blaming Urban Meyer for Trevor.

People are blaming the Jets being the Jets for Zach.

Jets fans booed Wilson off of the field in his first home game.

They can score points. That makes a huge difference. Fields has only been good for 12 points in the past 7 quarters, and 9 of the points were gifts by the defense and referees.

I don't think you can confidently say that the Bears "should beat" anybody at this point.

I'm not saying the Raiders are legit SB contenders, but they have scored 33, 26 (short week, on the road to EST), and 31 points. Carr's 1200 passing yards is more than double what the Bears have in TOTAL OFFENSE so far this season (575).

The Bears can't match those types of numbers, let alone beat 'em.
