Bears appeared to be locked in to the 8th pick.

Couple guys worth watching today that might be there in the mid-rounds are Mitch Hyatt, LT at Clemson that was a highly recruited prospect.

Also, Averett, the Alabama CB. Not very big but good cover skills.

Both worth taking a look at. Hurts to not have a 3rd rounder. I wonder if they will try to trade down from 8 and pick up an extra pick or two.

I hope so. Too bad they weren't 2-14 this year. QBs will be going early this year.

There should be a WR there at 8 but probably not much value for teams to want to trade up.

They'll take a WR with no trade. If they could pick up a 3rd rounder and move down in the early teens, that would be great. That's about what the value chart would predict. Dropping from 8 to 14 should get you a late 2nd/early 3rd but I don't think it will happen.

Ridley will probably be there at 8. Pace redrafting his first 1st round pick would be surprising.

Probably. I’ve seen Ridley, Kirk, and Sutton all possible at that spot. I’m sure one would still be there at 12–15.

I’m also sure that all of this will change 200 times before the draft.

I’d like to see them trade down a couple spots and grab one of the ND O-lineman. Hopefully one of the QB’s will still be on the board and they can get a bidding war going. Address the WR position thru free agency.

I also favor OL if they grade out high enough. If not, trading down to get more picks makes alot of sense. Gotta get high floor guys to build the organization. Supposed to be a deep draft for WR so after OL I'd target high floor guys again (not 1 year wonders like White).

Kirk should be the guy for the Bears at WR. He will probably be top of the list on speed for front-line WR talent at the combine but it's game speed. He's produced and the Bears need more speed on the outside.

Parris Campbell from OSU is a guy that they could probably get in the 3rd. Bigger than Kirk but just as fast but not as productive at OSU. But, OSU is not a prolific pass offense so he doesn't have the stats. He does have some versatility. Pretty good return guy. Could be a value.

OL, LB, CB- all first round options; focus heavy on these positions throughout the draft
WR- Burner in 2nd round or later

Not sure how anyone could look at this team and think WR is not a first round option.

I'm going after a top WR in free agency and taking a couple during the draft

The free-agent WR market is not inspiring. As an example, Inman is considered a top 5-ish free agent.

They should look hard at Sutton or Kirk or Ridley in the 1st.

Agreed. I would not be upset if they go WR in both 1st and 2nd round.

For the record, I like Inman and I hope they keep him.

But there are no difference makers at WR in free-agency unless you flat out get lucky. Incremental upgrades at best.

They need to find a #1.

The list of free agent receivers is terrible.

Spiegel & Parkins talking about WRs right now. Parkins agrees with bringing in a young veteran to bring stability for Mitch and draft a WR 2nd round or later (burner preferred). They are reading off the list of FA WRs right now; that list is not horrible and I would take them over anyone on the current roster.

Who, Watkins? That's the best free agent WR.

Landry and Paul Richardson to name two

The list is pretty horrible. Taking them over the current roster isn't much of an endorsement.

Kirk is a burner. He will be gone in the 2nd. After that, you are going for athleticism over production which hasn't turned out well of late for the Bears.

Sign a free-agent WR but don't expect that to solve your problems. Shoot for a real difference-maker in the draft IMO. You won't get that in round 4 or probably round 2.

Landry is a cancer. You don't want him in the locker room.

Domestic violence. Fights with teammates. No thanks.

So is Ridley a 1st round talent?

I think so. But, probably not a top 10 talent.

The Bears can use him though. It would be ideal to move down and grab one of the 3 top WRs.

I like Kirk. Seems like a real playmaker and I think he's a little better than Ridley but, either way, can't go wrong.

Watkins - upgrade, I'd take him

Landry - no

Robinson - coming off an ACL

Not exactly mark them in as a #1 in permanent marker. Pick a guy that's healthy and young and stop trying to pick a gem from someone else's rejects.

As mentioned earlier, there are upgrades in FA but it would be nice to find an elite player. Are those guys elite players?

Georgia / Oklahoma potential draft guys to watch -

Isaiah Wynn, Georgia #77 / 6-foot-2, 302 pounds/ G but could also play T and possibly C. Versatile. Round 3/4.

Ogbonnia Okoronkwo #31, OLB, Oklahoma / 6-foot-1, 240 pounds / quick off the edge / undersized / Round 3/4.

Orlando Brown #78 OT for Oklahoma is massive / 6-foot-8, 345 pounds / NFL projected RT but probably a round 1/2 guy that the Bears shouldn't be using a pick on.

Also -

Georgia -
#35 CB Aaron Davis
#6 WR Javon Wims
