Where’s this rumor from?

I heard Adam Abracadabra and Chris Blech talking about this rumor this morning. They attributed it to John "Moon" Mullin.

If the Bears are looking to move Howard, who can't catch and is therefore not a good fit for Nagy's west coast style offense, does that mean they are interested in Saquon Barkley, who can both run and catch?

They might be interested but he will be gone before their pick.

I was thinking they might trade up.

I hope not. They can't afford to give up any more picks. I think if a QB is still available at 8 someone will be looking to trade up with the Bears.

Instead of trading Howard, just sign another FA RB with some outside speed (or draft them in a lower round) to compliment him. Finding a possession WR should be a lot easier than finding a top 5 RB which Howard has proven to be.

It's harder to trade up if you trade down first. This would be foolish.

They would be spending huge money on Landry and sacrificing a ton of picks to grab Barkley and I'm not sure they would get that much better. Howard is already one of the leagues best runners.

Trading for Landry, signing Bell then taking a big #1 WR at #11 would make them pretty explosive offensively, but that's pretty much all their resources gone with them having done very little for the OL or defense.

Howard is a really good runner but he doesn't have Forte's hands and that matters. If Barkley is better than Gurley or Elliott you have to find a way to get him. If you do that trading Howard won't be hard. You can still find a receiver in free agency or later in the draft.

Well not only is there, obviously, no way of really telling if he'll be as good as Gurley, Elliott or Bell but the hype around him is so strong that the rest of the league is wanting him too. I dont think he represents the kind of massive improvement over Howard they would need to get to justify the cost to get Barkley. Also, they have Cohen as a gadget back already.

It doesn't seem like any of this is going to happen unless for some reason they are enamored with Le'Veon Bell and will do whatever it takes to sign him.

I love Jordan Howard.

He will only play here for two more years. I think the coaching staff will use him and he will be fine but I don't think they will maximize his talents. He is limited

Stop writing off Howard because he's not a great receiver. That's why we have Cohen.

If Howard could put in the work to become one of the best pure runners in the NFL I am certain he can learn how to catch the ball. He doesn't have to be Brian Westbrook or Darren Sproles.

The problem will be that in the type of offense I presume Nagy will run, Howard's presence on the field will reveal the play to the defense
