They wouldn't have beaten the Saints.

Don’t know how you could have watched the game and arrived at that conclusion

They scored 23 points. Can Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky throw for three TDs on the road in the playoffs? He barely scored 15 at home.

Oh , you’re working under the assumption they put up 23 on the bears

I knew you'd say that and yes it's possible to score 23 on the Bears if you're NO at home. Philly put up 16 on the road with a crippled QB and a senior citizen at RB. The Bears defense is really good but yes Michael Thomas, Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingraham, and whomever else are going to score at least 18-21 on you at home.

Well I’m glad I’ve already reduced your assumption down to 21 with one post. I suppose 23 could happen. I mean, it did happen 4 times in 17 games so it’s possible

Taking your number down to 21 gets you 5 out of 17 games on the year

But to be fair, you did mention 18 points. That happened 6 out of 17

Your inner meatball is still going strong. I get that. But try to let reason kick in. You do realize the Bears played a ton of shitty teams all year right? That partly accounts for the good record and stellar stats. But in the playoffs against Sean Payton and all those weapons, it doesn't matter if you scored 47 points or whatever on the fucking Tampa Bay Buccaneers in September, or if you killed the Buffalo Bills in October. They're going to score on you and you have to respond. If the Bears can't score more than 15 against Philly despite plenty of chances (two extra possessions earned due to Philly INTs) then how do you expect them to get the job done in NO? A better (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and more weapons next year would satisfy me. I don't think would have got it done this year.

The great Sean Payton put up 20 and 23 this playoffs against far worse defenses

Points are limited in the preseason. Come on, you know that. If teams are going to hold a team like NO under their season scoring average then you know the same is going to happen to the Bears. We averaged something like 25 a game or something. Put up 15 at home against an unremarkable defense.

I think the major disagreement between us I see is Bears vs NO. I had the Bears beating the Eagles and likely beating LA. Not winning against NO. I think you still believe the Bears beat NO. For me, again, it comes down to offense. I trust the Bears to play good defense. I said going into the playoffs that I don't see the Bears scoring more than 14 on their own without help from TOs and short fields. We had only one game but that more or less turned out to be the deal in that single game against an average D.

The Bears would have fit right into a game that featured no offense whatsoever.

Except that the Bears put up 31 points on the Pats just a couple of months ago.

How many of those teams beat the Rams and were a yard a way from beating the patriots?

Just the Bears?

Ok, then.

Regular season doesn't count. Teams throw unscouted stuff at you. If Hoodie can shut down Gurley, Cooks, Wood, etc., he can shut down (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and our midget gimmick RB.

Nah. You have a strong bias against the Bears. It informs most of your posts about the NFL.

But Hoodie didn't "shut them down" in October, and do you think Nagy would not have thrown something new at the Pats?

The Bears lost their home playoff game to a backup QB, so clearly they did not deserve to be playing in the Super Bowl. Its ignorant to just dismiss how good the Bears were this year though.

The Patriots beat the Chargers, Chief @ KC and the Rams.

The Bears lost at home to the Eagles with a back-up QB.

This is reality. The Bears had no business being in the Super Bowl.

The Green Bay Packers were tied deep into the 4th quarter with the Patriots at NE before losing in the regular season and lost only by 2 points to the Rams in LA.

But on a neutral field like the Super Bowl...easy win.

He would have thrown something new at the Pats but I don't think the Bears have the personnel on offense to do anything with it. Again the Pats shut down better personnel last night - I don't believe the Bears' offense would cause any headaches for the Pats going into the game, no disrespect to Nagy.

The defense would have done awesome. I think the Pats would have scored a max of 18 on the Bears. But even 13 would have probably got the job done.
