What are the ramifications of this with regard to HIPAA violations? What could this be indicative of in a larger sense? When do important people decide that serious questions are to be considered?

Imagine if Nagy is out for a few weeks and the Bears put together a win streak with Chris Tabor running the meetings. The Bears decide they have something there. At the end of the season, they decide to keep Pace, fire Nagy and promote Tabor to head coach.

Great play by Nagy. You can't fire a gravely ill man.

This will never happen, but it should go something like this. First off, have a presser to announce George McKaskey has been moved back to managing pre-season ticket sales, next McKaskey up takes over. Second, announce the retirement of Ted Phillips. Bring in the new director of football operations and hand over all things football to him, all McKaskey family members will take on important duties as game day parking attendants. We then can announce that Pace/Nagy are gone, one of the dead man walking members of the remaining coaching staff will serve as interim HC. The new football czar trades off diminishing vet assets like Mack, Robinson, and whoever else can fetch you draft capital.

This will allow an early start in the GM hiring process. A sound football mind will not fall for the next smarter than the room GM/Coach and will likely bring guys that understand how to rebuild a team from the Oline outward. Will also cut or not resign guys like Graham, Hicks, Jackson, Trevathian, etc... If all that happens tomorrow the team is still at least 2-3 years away from being good because you will basically have to rebuild almost the entire offensive roster. You at least have a few younger building blocks on D, not sure if you have anyone outside of a few RB's on offense that is anything beyond replacement level. There is a very real possibility that Fields sucks, but cannot really evaluate him until you get him with a competent coach and oline.
