Maybe it is somewhat overrated, but the Bears have lacked any type of nastiness for awhile on the line. Clearly you want other things as well. I have been watching some videos and reading more on him today. He is an impressive guy. Hopefully it works out. I am glad they addressed the line.
This seemed to be a Nagy issue. Hopefully this changes now that he has been gone.
Nagy had no interest in running the ball, and Pace did not think offensive line was a priority, he loved chasing QB's and WR's, but saw no value in interior lineman, their collective mindset resulted in the worst roster in the NFL and the team with the worst record in the NFL.
Poles is rebuilding the roster with guys he feels are coachable and will be solid NFL starters, avoiding potential boom or bust guys.
Will it work, decisions like taking Wright over Carter are what makes or breaks an NFL GM, but you have significantly upgraded your RT position, and may have your LT and RT spots filled with guys on rookie deals for the next several years, tons of work to be done, especially on the defensive line, but Poles is taking the long view here and at the very least he creating an environment where you will get a true read on Fields.
