I'm concerned that Cap Guru Cliff Stein was replaced by woke DEI hires this offseason. What is the holdup? Are they not using the correct pronouns in the contract?

Cliff Stein hadn't been working on the cap in years. That's probably why it's in better condition.

I don't think the Bears are a very liquid organization. They're probably trying to get a few dollars until the league check clears.

Williams doesn't have an agent. That's probably part of the problem. Not sure why Odunze hasn't been signed yet.

He is royalty. His great grandfather was a king.

Possibly. I was just interjecting a little known fact that the Bears drafted multiple players in this draft with ties to Zumunda.

That doesn't matter. Neither are holding out.

There is really nothing to hold out over. These sound like clerical errors and organizational mis management

from what i just read he doesnt have an agent... he's saying his people are negotiating it but per CBA if no agent the bears can only talk with the player. i'm sure the lack of agent isnt helping things

He and others are holding out on rookie deals for how quickly they get paid.

It will work out but the next CBA needs to close that down as it's stupid for both sides.

Signing bonus payout and other contract language. A lot of guys want practically all of the money upfront.

I doubt the agent is the issue because Odunze isn't signed. I believe it's about the signing bonus.

So they can't afford to pay them? How are they going to pay for a stadium? Still a Mickey Mouse organization I see.

It's a contract negotiation. Do you think any negotiation means that the ones paying can't afford it?

They are negotiating not over what to pay him, but when to pay him. So it sounds pretty petty, either that or they are broke and can't pay him more up front.

If it was just Williams, I’d entertain the idea that he’s a weird diva. But odunze not being signed puts this on Warren, who’s a weird diva.

They've had cash flow issues in the past. Poles talked openly about free agency strategies based on the amount of cash a team had for signing bonuses.

If what you said is true then all rookies would get 100% of their money as a signing bonus.

If they can't pay signing bonuses on million dollar contracts, how are they going to finance 30-40% of a multi-billion dollar stadium?

It makes little sense to overpay a rookie on a signing bonus.

It also makes little sense not to have your two top ten picks signed and in camp when it starts.

They'll finance the construction.

If they're in camp, what difference does it make?
