But he purposely put his foot down. He did it slowly. He knew the rule. I'm telling you. He knew what he was doing. Didn't hear any postgame. Did anybody ask him?

The ball he fielded at the 5 with one foot out was a pretty smart move. I don't give a shit if he can't conjugate verbs or splits his infinitives, he knows his football. That was a smart play.

That was a mistake that turned out to be a good play.

Yeah, Hester pulled a Homer on that play.

I thought he knew what he was doing.

How do you guys know it wasn't intentional? I didn't see anypost game stuff either.

I think he knew what he was doing. The real idiot is Phil Simms, who claimed that it was a terrible mistake that put the Bears at the 5. Did anyone else notice that he used "we" in reference to the Chiefs once or twice?

Maybe he had a mouse in his pocket.

Obviously we cant say for sure it was unintentional, but I agree with Killer V that it was obvious after he looked down. You could kind of tell he just looked like he fucked up, and then got bailed out. Im like 99% sure he didnt know that it would end up being a smart play.

During the post-game on Comcast, Hester said that Dave Toub (special teams coach) talked about it a ton during pre-season that people would be kicking it away from the middle of the field, and that if it was on the sideline the rule was if he caught it with a foot out of bounds they'd get it at the 40 or whatever. He said he knew what the rule was and that's why he did it, that he was coached to do it. It's pretty reasonable to think Toub would mention that and let Hester know, unless you think Hester is too stupid to remember what his coach told him in the pre-season or too stupid to actually follow what Toub was saying, which it wouldn't surprise me if some people do actually think that.

Then why not put both feet out of bounds and get the tiptoe reach like a WR on a sideline catch. That would maximize his reach.

On an unrelated note, I saw Simms at Terminal H last night at O'Hare. The Blond 'Fro was even scarier in person.

Would the "can't-go-out-of-bounds-and-be-the-first-to-touch-the-ball" rule apply here?

If not, I'd LOVE to see someone do that...

I agree - probably haven;t seen a returner like him since say Dante Hall a few years ago before KC ruined him by putting him at wideout too much.

Object lesson there perhaps?

Yes. That is what I fear most with Hester is that he gets overused and loses those legs.
