I dont exactly see other teams not throwing Tillmans way because theyre afraid of him. He gets thrown at a lot and he certainly isnt in the team photo when you think of shutdown corners in the league. He's been a good player for a long time but I dont see him as a HOF player.

he's not? How do you define "shutdown corner"? He's been a top 10 CB for 7+ years now. That's not easy to do.

Tillman's probably one of those "Hall of Really Good" guys. Even though a large percentage of Bears fans for whatever reason love to hate on this guy, he's been generally terrific throughout his career.]

Briggs, on the other hand, I think you have to now consider a serious HOF threat. When you stack up that many Pro Bowl selections, it's hard to argue against it.

He should get in but won't because he doesn't get recognition from stupid people.

A serious HOF candidate is vastly understating it. He's basically a lock for the HOF barring injury.

Probably true, I suppose. I was right with Bernstein this week: watching that Dallas game, they bring up Briggs' Pro Bowls after he scores the TD, and I think to myself "my god, this guy's a HOF'er."

I'd honestly never given it much thought, but his resume is already ridiculous, and he's playing dominant ball. He's always been kinda underrated, because everyone assumes so much of it is about Urlacher. Yet here he is, playing great with a suboptimal Urlacher.

Me and Sock Boy have had this discussion for 5 years now. I thought discussion about this wouldn't have been premature in the super bowl season. Lance Briggs is up there with David Harris and Patrick Willis as the best run stopping LB in the league and has been for years. If you were the best at what you do during your career you should deserve consideration, and Briggs will go down as the best run stopping OLB(admittedly not a deep category), of his generation.

I was thinking the same thing today. Between the strips and INT's,
this guy has been a difference maker.

Who are the really great players who didn't make multiple Pro Bowls and/or All-Pro teams?

He's not the best CB of his era nor even close to that level and plays zone coverage.

He probably doesn't belong in there though. But the Pro Football Hall is a strange thing and hard to predict beyond the no-brainer quarterbacks, running backs, and receivers. For example, I can't see how a guy like Tommy Nobis isn't in there.

Tillman has a bright future doing commentary for the Bears. Tom Thayer does a fabulous job now, but he may want to retire eventually.

Yeah, but a guy like Darren Sharper might not.

Nope, can't see him getting in. He got a ton of stats from a long career but he wasn't a game changer like woodson can be.

Forcing fumbles and returning interceptions for touchdowns, isn't game changing? Ooookkkkkk....

Tillman's #'s:

135 GM
32 INT
30 FF
1 FR
8 TD
98 PDE
741 TACK
3 SACK

EDIT: 10th year in league.

GP:
'03 - 16
'04 - 8
'05 - 15
'06 - 14
'07 - 15
'08 - 15
'09 - 15
'10 - 16
'11 - 16
'12 - 5

With the exception of 2004, when Tillman injured his knee vs Green Bay, he has been remarkably healthy, playing no less than 14 games a season.

Okay, but look at Sharper who probably will never make it:

205 GM
63 INT
8 FF
8 FR
2 TD
101 PDE
734 TACK
7.5 SACK

I love Tillman He's my favorite Bear.

I don't think he's close to a hall of famer

After the Carolina playoff game he needed witness protection to walk thru the city.

The NFL puts a lot of guys in that are questionable though.

Briggs has a better chance

I'm not saying he's in. If he gets a ring, & his numbers grow at the same pace (haven't calculated them) then I could see him get the call.

Its hard playing in a small market like Chicago and for such an obscure NFL team like The Bears
