The bar at TE is extremely low, so you're really just looking for a guy who won't drop passes at this point. An unremarkable year for a pass-catching TE will be two steps forward for the Bears after the Kellen Davis disaster.

The guy is a competent tight end playing against a team with a good DL but a soft middle in nickel coverage. This wasn't some stretch prediction. Getting the ball out quickly to the open man leads to this conclusion in analyzing both teams.

I see no reason why they cannot beat the Giants, Lions and Ravens this year. None of them look very strong. Obviously that can change for the Giants and Ravens, but probably not for the Lions.

The Ravens are definitely weaker after losing Boldin. Rice is also banged up and the defense was mediocre all of last year. I dismissed them last year during the playoffs and obviously got burned on that one. Feel pretty confident about dismissing them this year, however...

Fairly close. I think this thread proves that the expectations were not low for this team. This was a 10-6 team that were killed by injuries again the season before. They should have made the playoffs.

Boy I wish I could go back and talk to that sweet loveable meatball and tell him to not watch a second of the next 17 weeks of pure unfiltered shit. Just grab him and tell him to save that pie in the sky bullshit for the Cubs. I want to make him be realistic that this Bears team, in my football watching lifetime, has and always will be the punching bag of the Packers.

Alas I can't. But for one shining moment in late August, as I was truly sleep deprived from two newborns, I was happy about the Bears.
