Yup. Have you isolated on Peppers & watched him being completely dominated by no names this year?
If Pep is finished the Bears should cut him & save that $14.3 Million, dontcha think?

I'm not arguing that he's played well. I'm just surprised you think the Bears would cut him.

Effective or not Peppers is probably at the end of his tenure with the Bears. We've all been wondering how long the defense can hold up due to age and what not, and I think this is the last year for sure. Emery will need to find a pass rusher or two to make up for the loss or diminished production of Peppers, and probably add another LB and CB to the mix as well.

The Peppers signing was a last gasp effort by Lovie & Jerry to save their jobs. I still cant believe that Ted & the McCaskeys approved the signing of Peppers. Needless to say it was a bad decision & a bad ROI.

I'm not sure if you're trolling. This argument is easily refuted by just looking at the recent statistics in Lovie's last two years. Last year for example they ranked 3rd in points allowed and 8th in sacks. In other words, they knew what they were doing on the defensive side of the ball.

See, how hard is it to come up with a response like this one? Peppers will be gone after this season. But to say his tenure isn't what the Bears paid for is a bad opinion. He's been great.

"I KNEW PEPPERS WAS SHIT WHEN THEY SIGNED HIM!!" No, you didn't. If you show proof of a statement like that, it only hurts your case. Peppers has been doing work since he joined the Bears. Listen to his teammates.

On a side note, I don't want anyone that's down on Peppers commenting at all about Cubs free agency. If you think Peppers hasn't earned his contract to this point, you'll be the same person complaining about ANYONE that's signed for real money this year. Dat bum!

No. Don't look at the Bears Defensive stats...or Lovies Defensive stats the last 2 years of his tenure in Chicago...Look at Peppers stats, not the Bears team defense stats. He has underperformed. Not a bust but close to it. Peppers never was & never will be worth the $ that Lovie & Jerry threw at him as a last gasp effort to save their jobs.

Peppers will get 12 sacks in the last 14 games.

Probably 1 pick and a TD, also.

As a full-time starter in a larger defensive scheme, teams stats are absolutely relevant when it comes to appraising Peppers' work. But if you want to zoom in on him alone, he's got 22.5 sacks and three forced fumbles over the past two years. And again, that statistical performance, and his all unquantified contributions, played a big role in the Bears' impressive defense last year.

In 2012 they finished with 41 sacks, and in 2011 they finished with 33 sacks. This means Peppers has accounted for 31% of the Bears' sacks over the past two years, plus X amount of pressures (don't know how to find that out).

I don't know how he'll finish this year, but I'm definitely fine with his previous production. We also know anecdotally, if you trust players and coaches, that his presence alone frees up other parts of the Bears' D-line.

Agreed on Peppers, and just to clarify, I also think he's been great.

Kid, why are you surprised that Scorehead would be arguing for something to stupid? Its pretty much what he does around here.

With the exception of the last two games, which incidently he's been rumored to have been quite sick during, he has been damn good with the bears.
I'm not sure how you can make a legitimate argument otherwise.
Is scorehead arguing that he's overpaid? I can buy that I guess but I can't bjy that he's bad.
I think you can argue that just about every player in the top 10% is probably overpaid.

More egregiously overpaid is Cutler and its not even close.

I probably spelled that wrong. I don't care. Eat me.

Damn he looks old. Nice play but he looks fat and he was gassed after those 40 yards. He can keep eating though since there will be an opening on the interior with the season ending knee injury to Melton.

On what? The ball bouncing into his hands?

He had 1 assist!

He might need to move him to DT, 3 tech guy.

I hope I am wrong but he looks terrible! Average at best!

Need a new fat guy with Melton out!

Peppers isn't going to show up on the stat sheet much outside of that TD, but he was in the backfield quite often getting pressure on big Ben. That was his best game for the Bears in quite a while.

And yes, bigfan, the ball bounced into his hands because he was in the backfield ready to hit/pressure the QB once again. If he isn't back there disrupting things he never has a chance to pickup a loose ball.

He's on pace to finish the season with 5 TDs, 8 tackles, and 0 sacks.

Wait a second, if he isnt there, he cant get the ball? Thats some great analysis Phil Simms!

I will always remember that good game that Peppers had when he got 1 assist!!

Peppers was a strong candidate for defensive MVP his first year with the Bears. He single-handedly defeated the Pack. Overpaid? Maybe. Bad? That's ridiculous.
