Ya can't say Emery isn't consistent. Excluding Carey he went athlete.

Is that true? Line I read on him says he is built like a TE so its possible..

I wouldn't say Fales is much of an athlete either.

Looks like Vereen was more of a special teams pick than anything else. Would have liked to see them go after Reynolds who has starting potential (at FS) from everything I have read on him.

Yep it is true.

Don't look past Vereen as possible starter. He is a smart and athletic kid. am little small but I think he could be best safety on team pretty quick

Impossible to know how this will turn out but it looks like a really good draft right now. I don't like the 2nd round pick and the RB, but love the Fales and Sutton picks and think Fuller will be a good pick.

Wacthed 3 Fales games this year, with an emphasis on watching him

2nd and 3rd games v Stanford and Minn. he looked BAD! Those are the top 2 defenses he played against.

first half v Minn, he was Turrible.

final game v. Fresno, the guy lit it up, even better than D Carr that game, who I still think is better than Bortles.

Slingshot arm, seemed to do well in a quick release offense, which I assume is what Trestman likes about the guy, I will leave the rest up to the QB Whisperer
-----

As a semi Attendee of the Univ of Arizona, I still do follow them closer than any other football program, so have been watching Casey since he came to Arizona.

One thing people dont realize about Arizona is they bring in great players. True, it has not translated into the results that one would think, but as I pointed out many times, they recruit as well or better than anyone in Basketball, thats because it is amazing place to go to school (or do whatever I did there), it's awesome there. Thus when a guy can go wherever he wants, Arizona ends up with better talent than they have shown in the final record, but feel free to Goog it up, you would be surprised at how many NFL players Arizona has produced.

That said, casey is a football player and a helluva a RB. he doesnt have the breakaway speed I was looking for, but I think you have a guy reminds me of Emmit, who didnt have breakway speed either. You will see Carey make plenty of plays, just need to go see his stats for the past 2 years, it's too good to ignore.

His combines pushed him down, but I still think they got a solid pick here. he will be better than ANY Bears backup RB in the past 10 years.

yeah I am not that upset at the 40 time. Running backs do not just run in a straight line as fast as they can. I think this kid has the potential to be a good back for them.

Emmit Smith was criticized when drafted for his 40 time as well. What was his like 4.6? Things seemed to go pretty well for him. Not saying this kid will be even close to his level, but that stuff is way overrated. The kid seems like a football player. The Bears need more of those guys

I went to the U of A game when Utah came to visit and Carey lit it up over 200 yards I believe. :drunken: I think he's what the Bears need. He'll get you that 1-3 yards that Forte can't and Bush never could.

Overall I'd say the Bears did well finding value in this draft. I think Sutton and Carey will both prove to be players that validate my comments on that. I'm not worried about Carey's 40 time as I am more concerned with what a guy can actually do as a football player and he grades out pretty high there -I did put his 40 time out there as an fyi tho.

Only two picks I'm not comfortable with are Ferguson and Fuller. I do think Fuller will be a good player, but I also think Dix and Pryor will be as well, and either one of those guys makes us much better right away than Fuller (just my take on it). So I'll grow into that pick I'm sure. As long as he isn't the next Walt Harris -not that Harris was terrible, but still..

Ferguson confuses me as I don't really see the value as the 2nd pick (especially when you land Sutton right after that, who I think is a better player), and I don't feel he is a guy that helps right away because most articles I have read on him and what I have seen of him points in the direction of him needing alot of development. I do understand that pick from a depth standpoint, but I don't personally think you should be drafting for depth in the 2nd round on a team that didn't make the playoffs -you should still be looking for a player that can come right in and start or take up significant playing time on your team. Maybe they really beleive thats what he'll do, we'll see.

Not a flashy knock you on your ass draft at the end of the day, but I think the Bears may have grabbed at least 3 potential starters here (Fuller, Sutton and Carey) while also scooping up some potential diamonds in the rough like Ferguson (if the Bears can develop him) and Vereen - like RFDC mentioned earlier in this thread not a stretch for him to become possibly the best Saftey on the Bears current roster the instant he ties his Nike's on.

I give this draft an: I ain't even mad

Kiper stated

BEARS MIGHT HAVE HAD A BETTER 3rd DAY THAN 2nd DAY

Sutton and Ferguson are the difference between a B and a D

I know the guy busts his ass looking at prospects every year, but I don't like his hair and I think he's a fucking idiot. Would have been funny to see Gruden box him in between draft picks.

I am pretty happy overall with this draft. I would give it a solid B+

I can understand why people are a little iffy on Ferguson.

I love the Sutton pick.

I am really interested in what they can do with Vereen Casey and Fales.

Not usually happy with drafting a punter, but no doubt that is a position of need and if they get that spot solidified then great.

I would have liked to seen them use that 7th round pick on one of the LBs that were left on the board. Skov or Christian Jones.

Kid down at Southern Illinois Faulkner, undrafted. Not sure where he is going now, but would have been OK trying him and going with a LB as well. dont feel so good about the LB's this year.

For those interested in seeing/hearing more about the players drafted I would encourage you to go to the Bears website and watch the videos they have there, espeically the videos with the area scouts discussing each player. Lots of good stuff there and gives you a real good idea of what they see with each player.

Don't focus on the size of safeties anymore. That is a thing of the past. Height is important and pass coverage are what is demanded from the current safety.

Vereen will start this year unless the sign a veteran who gets purged in the post draft weeks.

That's the thing people are missing. He was drafted for a purpose not as some general great RB, though I think he can be that as well. I had him as one of the best in the draft and I like that they got him....pissed that Mc Gill, CB/S, Utah was drafted one pick before them.
