How does one "commit" a drive and score a "go ahead" TD and still be down one score?

you know, SH, i hate trestman's utterly-scripted-first-drives where it's like RUN RUN PASS. the results invariably go like this:

1st and 10: forte for -1 to 2yds.
2nd and 9: forte for -1 to 2yds.
3rd and 8: incomplete pass / 5yd completion

and then we punt the damn ball away (except today where we shocked the world going RUSH RUSH RUSH and ended up 3yrs short), which is fucking treacherous if we just wasted the opportunity to set the tone for the game, or even worse.... if we wasted one of the 0-5 defense stops we can count on for the game. or in today's case.... we have week 17 vs GB flashbacks and leave a live ball on the field that the opponents pick up for a TD instead of us picking it up for a turnover/TD.

as an aside, i'm going to go on a quest to see how many times the bears cash in on pts after defensive stops this year. i think that might be the most important technically-useless stat for this team, because i swear to god i don't trust this defense as far as i can throw it.... and robbie gould fucking up the chance to put us up 3 possessions @ 24-7 = ARRRGHHHASFLADFASLDFJ cuz man, once that field goal was missed carolina got some pep in their step and started gashing us downfield blam blam bam blam bam.

if carolina doesn't bust out the no huddle on their first drive of the 2nd half they're fucking idiots. that will crush the bears.
