Agreed. The fact that the Bears did NOTHING to Lamarr Houston after his boneheaded celebration shows you they are gutless and command zero respect. What exactly would have been the downside to cutting Houston and terminating his contract? I heard a host say that doing so would make free agents less likely to come to the Bears. BULLSHIT. Heck, Trestman couldn't even say he was disappointed in him. He is worthless.

I have to guess that he'll be fired just before that.

They don't give a crap. People have been upset for the better part of 20 years. That stadium will never be empty.

If Trestman survives then he will only do so because he's two years into his deal. But it would be unconscionable if Tucker and DeCamillis survived the season. Even if they do, they.should be fired in the off-season. That much is obvious to me.

There is a 0% chance that Trestman comes back next year. He may last the season because realistically, firing your coach in football during the season doesn't do any good. It only happens to show mercy to Trestman because it is so obvious that he is completely unprepared to be a coach in the NFL. Then again, this should have been obvious when he was trying to get people to meet new people in the lunchroom like it was the first day of freshman year.

I think he enters his third year as a coach on the hot seat. There will be talk of entering the third year of his offense, etc., even though it has regressed this year. Tucker will be fired for sure, but then we will run into the problem of attractive coordinator candidates not wanting to coach under a lame duck like Trestman.

Most coaches don't last when the players give up on them though. There is really nothing he can say or do at the point.

Rex Ryan survived for as long as he did because the players still had his back. They were just bad. The players seem pretty tired of being treated like children, while also letting them run wild and do what they want.

Trestman is also a pretty horrible coach to have when you have a horrible leader like Cutler on offense and someone who became a horrible leader in Briggs.

No. I can't see it. That was a damning loss. If they get blown out by the Vikings, I would expect the whole staff to be fired that day.

It's interesting to think that the Bears fired Lovie Smith, after a 10-6 season. I thought that was the right move though but it really shows just how much Trestman destroyed everything. At this point, the Jets and Jaguars probably have better looking futures.

What an amazing stat they had tonight.

The Pack has 5 players that have ever played for another NFL team.

The Bear have 31 players that have played for other teams.A

Angelo fucked this up more than I realized. Phil better start looking for a new coach tomorrow.

Angelo? Angelo?
This is like Obama blaming Bush for last Tuesday. No. You just cited the stat, 31 free agents on the roster means that either you can't evaluate talent or you can't evaluate talent.

The vaunted offensive genius is a one trick pony who's quarterback whispering is either a silent mind trick or spoken in a foreign language. The defensive scheme is an absolute freakin' joke. Hey, blame Angelo for a 1st round bust that has to be on the field playing a position. This team gives up record points and puts on ever spectacular displays of offensive futility.

Where's Buddy Ryan to punch somebody when you need him.

31 free agents after 3 drafts means someone before you couldn't evaluate talent.

40% of your roster is home grown by Emery. 90% of the Pack is home grown.

Emery may still turn out to be a total bust. That stat clearly shows that Angelo was a bust.

No.

The Bears had a very good run under Angelo. That run was over but for whatever reason Emery didn't realize it and has chosen to keep it going even though we fired a GM and a coach because of it.

We can't blame Angelo for what he left because Emery went all-in on that talent thinking he could win now. Even if Emery didn't draft them, he thought he could win with them.

Possibly? No, that is a pretty much the dumbest thing he could have said.

It will be interesting to see what he says this week. After the NE game it was "The best thing we have going for us is we have the bye week," and know we have seen how well that worked out.

He shouldn't survive any later than December 29th, but it doesn't matter. This team looks to be fucked for years to come. Its pathetic.

But if there still is a long season ticket waiting list (Is there?) that doesn't matter.

The fact it was the Packers that did this to them may make them make a change.

Trestman should be fired...at the same time Emery and Teddy are. And the McCaskey's can all pile into a Mega Bus headed south.

Emery had to keep some of his people. And those folks aren't performing either.

When you become a GM good luck trying to remake an entire 53 man roster in 3 years.

Angelo's "run" ended in 2008.

He kept almost everyone though and went into an immediate "win now" mode. It would be easy to excuse Emery if he had figured out they were going to be bad and started the rebuild and it wasn't working. They have to start the rebuild now, with a quarterback who will almost certainly be gone by the time the rebuild would be complete.

Plenty of GM's have. Keep in mind this team is horrible.
Seacrest wrote:

Which is why it is so dumb that Emery continued it. Emery should have blown things up as soon as Angelo was fired. Emery made the decision that they could win now. He has to own it.

This is a new level of bad. This team actually looks worse than the end of the Wanny era and it's only just begun. Jauron and Lovie had shorter leashes than Wanny. They held on to Wanny for a very long time but only whacked him when the jerseys in the seats were dominant with purple and green/gold. Couple that with a need for a new stadium.

I have to think that as long as Virginia is alive, they will continue to operate as an outdated mom and pop shop. They will fire Trestman at the end of the year but Emery will get the opportunity to hire a 2nd head coach...unfortunately.

I think you all are disgracefully ignorant.

Clearly, Trestman being a student of history, used his defense to pay homage to the fall of the Berlin Wall 25 years ago last night in honor of our past and serving veterans.

Don't want to pile on but the Packers aren't that good. Their best win this season was against the Dolphins. That was some shameful shit last night from the Bears.

I cannot believe this man is not fired.

He's living in a dreamland. They should fire him just for this press conference. Forget the games.
