I don't mean to be a dick (so, having said that, I am free to say really dick-ish things with no repercussions), but how does a guy like that get to be an NFL QB coach?

I can't imagine that he's played QB at any significant competitive level. How does he get a guy like Cutler to listen when he tells him "this is how you play QB"?

More power to him. He must be dynamic. It's just surprising to me.

I take it all back. Apparently, he was a 5'5" QB for Arkansas.

Thanks, Hawger!

See Dan Bernstein could be a quarterback if not for his privilege.

Will Johnny Football be joining him next year? He is the guy who helped facilitate the drafting of him by the Browns.

C Grade for Being Safe.

Looks like he's on the Andy Reid diet, but I'm not going to judge a book by its cover yet.

I'm not sure you get more than one opportunity to judge a book by its cover.

That did have a Norm Crosbyish vibe to it.

C'mon, Kamps. I'm good looking enough for like 4-12. Maybe 5-11 on a good day.

Yeah...when has Arkansas football done anything positive?

This team is fucked.

They would have been better off with John Shoop.

Isn't Dowell Loggains a synonym for Cutler Coddler?

I'd verify that the accomplishments of the offenses of NYG, Arizona, Carolina, etc., weren't due to just dumb luck and/or exceptional individual play, and then see who I can poach from those teams. There's always the NE tree as well.

Isn't the NE tree basically Josh McDaniels? He's not coming here. The Patriots do not have a quarterbacks coach.

The architects of Arizona's offense are Bruce Ariens and Tom Moore. Neither is coming here. Arizona doesn't have a QB coach.

I'm not excited by Ken Dorsey, the QB coach in Carolina.

Ben McAdoo is the (presumably) outgoing OC for the Giants. I don't know anything about him, but he seems worth checking out.

I'm assuming there are guys under the guys you mention or ones working elsewhere who've been influenced by those guys. A connected NFL person in a front office should know who is who and who has been influenced by what school of thought, etc. Under Lovie the Bears seemed to always hire a guy they knew they could work with (i.e. pliable and maybe not enough of a threat to supplant Lovie as the HC if things came to that), but ideally you'd be aware of offensive trends today and hire the person best suited to have the Bears embody those trends moving forward.

I suppose the point is now moot, but your analysis here strikes me as somewhat bizarre because you seem to be suggesting that the Bears should have considered running backs, offensive line, and wide receivers coaches from other teams for their offensive coordinator opening. That kind of thing really doesn't happen in the NFL.
