No, but a yearly check for around $230MM(before opening the gates or for local broadcast rights) certainly keeps the idiot heirs of an overrated fraud safely ensconced on the north shore.

I thought you were gonna ask him if he’s a pud-whack. The guy leaves solid reviews for restaurants around my way too (Harlem-Irving vicinity). But his recent performance on the board has been very disappointing. I hope that he can rediscover whatever magic he possessed that led to him being CFMB poster of the year, because right now, if we crossed paths and I knew who he was, I’d likely moon him.

This is a very odd take for a Bears fan but it's your life.

NFL contracts never bother me. I was more shocked at some of the contracts NBA players were getting a few years ago.

This is just unwarranted pessimism that is admittedly within the realm of possibility but nowhere near the likely situation.

Their OL is decent. Long-term they have some worry though.
The WR were fixed comprehensively. They added three starter-caliber players at WR and another starter caliber player at TE. Robinson and Miller could be huge.
Blah blah (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky sucks I know all about QB's blah blah

My pessimism is born out of 30+ years of watching the Bears, and this:

1. Spring of 2014 Mack is drafted.

They're a combined 28-36 with this supposedly all time great player on their defense, and this is despite having a quarterback who is arguably better than any quarter back the Bears had on their team during that period of time.

We also thought the Bears were a Superbowl contender after the last trade of this magnitude, Jay Cutler, and we all saw the mediocrity that followed after that transaction.

I suspect there's a reason why Mack became available, just like there's a reason why Cutler became available. If the guy was really the end all be all, the Raiders would have opened their checkbook and signed him. I suspect they looked at the quality of their team, they looked at how much he wanted, and reached the conclusion that they were more likely to win if they took that money and invested it in other areas. The Bears not only made a different bet, but decided to give up two first round picks in the process.

The opinion around the league is the Raiders literally don't have the 90 million to put in escrow to sign him to an extension.

Plus the Raiders didn't have the same talent around him on defense.

If the bears can make the playoffs the next 2 years, those first round picks will likely be worth less than Roquans number 8 pick in the draft.

Chart scoring sheets have the number 8 worth 1400 points. Wild card/divisional teams picks are worth between 650-850. A deep playoff run either year really lowers the value of the trade for the raiders.

I'm anxious for week one. We were basically shown nothing in the preseason. Starters on the field or play calling. Going to be interesting how our first year coach and 2nd year QB do because that's all that matters.

Mack listed as starter at OLB. Puts to rest any worry that he'll be limited week 1.

Floyd also practiced today.

If Glass Floyd can stay healthy he could have 15-18 sacks this year. (most of which will be him just walking into the player).

He should really only play 50% of snaps. Passing downs and that's about it.

What really has me excited are the 2-5 possibilities with Kwiatkoski in the mix. Because I still have no idea what to expect out of Bullard/Robertson-Harris.

Not to mention Lynch, Acho and Fitts who all have their situational strengths. They can run 2-5, they can run 3-4 with Mack as a down linemen or even 4-3 with Mack at end, Bilal Nichols at 3T and Smith/Trevathan/Kwiatkowski at LB.

Enjoy this flexibility and versatility while it lasts because I expect some guys to have the kind of years that price them out of Chicago. Particularly Kwiatkowski.

Kwiatkoski has two years left on his contract.
