Seem familiar? Just Asking A Question

If you’d like to say I’m gay for Caleb as a way to help explain why you’re gay for Fields, that’s fine. Seems fair.

WYC? You’ve spent a year turning every Bears thread into a longform love letter to an AFC backup QB.

Before we go down the "Just Asking Questions" portion of the show which you dudes love so much, I will simply say this "Moist".

All I ever did as a REAL BEARS FAN is provide the case as to why the Bears traded the wrong player. MANY BEARS FANS would agree. Not only traded the better player but also kept the player who could have brought back significant assets.
That's a "normal sports conversation".

You on the hand, admittedly get "aroused" by watching Caleb Williams play football. A huge difference.

Remember when you made the exact same excuses for the 8-game losing streak haver Justin Fields that you now call irrational and unobjective defenses of Caleb Williams?

It’s an important question because otherwise I have no idea what you’re talking about.

I’ve never pretended to be objective about Williams. I think he’s good and I’ve been saying as much since his time at Oklahoma.

You, on the other hand, have a clear fascination with Fields that can’t be explained by the way he plays football.

This one is a little different than simply making a "bad decision". This was a franchise altering decision. Bears would have been a playoff team this year had they made the correct move.
Instead we're back to once again whining about owners, finance guys, GMs, Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, The O-Line, Running Backs, etc

The mere fact that the theory behind "tanking" has to be explained to you just further illustrates that you really might want to rethink discussing this "Sports Thing" Tee Time. It's clear that you are too deranged to ever actually "comprehend" how it works.

Every scenario which involved Fields being the long term starter with the Bears is worse than what they have now. The two extra first round picks don't mean much when the Bears are putting a combination of Jameis Winston and Tyson Bagent on the field next year as Fields moves on to another team.

No it wasn't. Bears won fewer games this season and their offense was much worse with "Generational Caleb" as their QB.

Fields wasn't any better in 2023 than Williams was in 2024.

But, the larger point is that the Bears would either be way overpaying for Fields for either a one year rental or in the worst case scenario an expensive long term extension. So, $25 million for one year with no long term plan, or $40 million a year for a guy who we now know seems destined to bounce around the league. Plus, the QB situation this year in the draft is horrible if you aren't in the top 6 so they can't draft his replacement.

Getting another first round pick or two doesn't mean much when there is a chance that Bagent is our 2025 starter and that's actually not the worst case scenario.

If they would have kept Fields we would be looking at R.Wilson, K.Cousin or S.Darnold as our QB next year or worse.

Yes he was. 20 TDs in 12+ games versus 20 TDs in 17 games validates that he was "better" Brick McCarver

Ah I get it, any time Justin Fields has sucked, even in his rookie season and in 2022, it's because the team around him was "tanking" (even though they weren't, and arguing that a team is "tanking" is just a different way of arguing that the supporting cast around the QB and the defense are both bad, both of which are defenses of Caleb's play that you have dismissed). But when it comes to talking about the performance of Caleb Williams, the quality and performance of the supporting cast around him is irrelevant.

 2023 Justin was better than 2024 Caleb if you include the hypothetical TDs Justin would have thrown!

Williams was actually a better overall runner in 2024 than Fields was in 2023.
