I have another proposal

Justin Fields and #9 to NE

#3 and #34 to Chi

Assuming the Bears are taking Williams and Washington takes Maye, I think Fields is the better option to Daniels for NE future. Pats still keep a high first rounder AND their QB.

New England has a massive rebuilding project on its hands. If anything, they will seek to accumulate additional draft picks this year and next rather than trade picks away for failed first-round picks of the past.

Fields is worth at most the 34 by himself. So what are you adding to the 9 to get up to 3?

Obviously, I disagree on Fields market value.

You listen to more national viewpoints than most of use here. What kind of thoughts about Fields do you hear from people who are further removed from the situation

Nah, he is a manager and a def coordinator. He will hire a new def co to take off some of the load and Poles will hire an offensive staff for him. Next year will be fine then decide the future.

And then if it doesn’t work, they’ll either have another highly picked QB going into a new offense in year 2 or Justin Fields going into year 5 with his 4th different offense.

My assumption Fields goes.

Fields has to go. Bears cannot pass up another top draft pick.

People outside Chicago are a little more sober about Fields than the H1M cult. I agree with you that a GM might see potential in him.

I would do the deal without the 2nd round pick.

Sure, there's potential in a pair of JORR's fetid dress shoes, too. But you're not gonna wear them to dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant. And you're not gonna give up a first-round pick for Fields.

Agreed. You don't fire the OC and the QB coach and retain Fields in a contract year.

Never said he's worth a first rounder. But when you have guys out there who traded a fortune to move up one pick to take a QB who failed to start at a basketball school, you can see guys like that overpaying for a javelin thrower who moonlights as a QB.

The Bears would be keeping Fields if they didn't have the #1 pick in a QB rich draft.

You think they would have made a move in free agency or taken what was left at #9?

#3 pick = 2,200
#9 pick = 1,350
remainder= 850 which is the 20th pick in the first round

you might be right.

on the other hand, Mel thinks Fields is worth the Falcons #8, which would put the trade at -550 for the bears. This lines up nearly perfectly with the value of that #34 Pats pick.

Would trade #9 and your 2025 #1 to lock in MHJ? Or do you think Odunze/Bowers/Nabers are a sufficient consolation prize?

Is it worth trading that much capital for WRs?

3 years ago, about half as long since the Bears have beaten the Packers.

It is if you believe he'll be a HoF player, and the others are capped at the pro bowl.
