I honestly don't think the Bears focused on O-line in the draft since Jim Finks.

There's not much they can do now. Nagy already fucked the season up by benching the best QB on his roster. It's a fireable offense.

football thoughts like these make me question your acumen. Bears are going nowhere with Mitch. They could go somewhere with Nick.

 you questioning anyone's sports thoughts around here is PRICELESS

That mid 2000’s line was very good, maybe great for a few years.

If Mitch wwre the starter, I think it's pretty likely the Bears would have beaten the saints. I don't think the game would have went to overtime. I think the Bears would have managed to score 24 points and win in regulation.

Not sure about yesterday, but one thing is for sure is that Mitch would have been able to move around and not taken as many hits or sacks as Foles did.

So Mitch loses Atlanta and Tampa and Carolina?

Mostly via free agency

Yeah but they get overturned on the recount though.

Most smart GMs draft college LT's in the 3-5 round regularly, if they can play LT in the NFL, great, if not they can maybe play RT, and if they cannot play tackle at the NFL level they likely can play guard, or at least contribute as quality oline depth on your roster. Ryan Pace does not really seem to grasp the fundamentals of the GM position.

Maybe the bigger problem with the Bears the last 20 years is they can’t evaluate 1st round talent consistently.

It's a domino effect, but an accurate statement. Failed draft picks result in overpaying for FA or reaching on FA hoping to catch lightning in a bottle. For whatever reason, they've consistently missed on offensive positions.

I think missing on 1st round talent (regardless of position) is a pretty big problem with the Bears. I also think their overall philosophy on roster creation has been flawed.
