When you look back at Ryan Pace's tenure you can easily see where the wheels fell off, one of the worst evaluators of talent and roster builders you will see in the NFL. Pace derailed this franchise for 3-5 years by drafting poorly and then having to blow through tons of draft capital and FA paper to try to cover up mistakes.
Guess you could say he was drafting scheme fits, but what was Nagy's scheme, don't think he even knew.
The 2019 draft was the real disaster, no early picks, guys who should be your core vets, only one of the draft picks is still in the league.
Had to overpay for Fields after being conned into bidding against yourself to draft Mitch.
Had to reach for Jenkins at LT and Borom at RT because Pace failed to pick any offensive lineman in the first 5 rounds for several years, he did not seem to value offensive or interior defensive linemen, blowing tons of cap room and paper chasing 3-4 outside linebackers. When they finally fired him, you then had the worst offensive and defensive lines in the NFL, it has taken several years to rebuild the offensive line and it is still not a finished product.
Gave up on Tonga, but couldn't sign Roy Robertson-Harris because you were in self-imposed cap hell.
Had to chase WR's after failed first and second round picks at the position.
Picked a RB even though your HC at the time refused to run the ball.
One could argue that if a franchise would be smart to consult Pace and George and then instantly eliminate the guys they put at the top of their list, you rarely find two guys that consistently made the wrong football decisions, picking the wrong GM, HC, and players, guys so bad at their jobs that they would have been launched anywhere else in the league.
