No actually I have been on you regarding the fact that you see your 2 football teams so differently. No matter what happens with the Bears you are pessimistic. No matter what happens with the Illini you are optimistic. That is what I have been continually pointing out. I have just never understood why you do not hold the Illini to the same standard that you do the Bears.

Maybe one is a Pro team and one is a crappy College team?

I don't really see a double standard.

Illinois was an atrocious football team last year. One of the worst defensive teams that I have ever seen. They won 3 games all year. So, they cleaned house. They brought in new coordinators from the outside, not Ron Zook guys. They changed philosophy and it has paid off. They already have 3 wins and the combined record of the 3 teams that beat them is 19-1.

They have a real shot to be 8-4, possibly 9-3 and chance at a Bowl game (which most people did not give them a chance at prior to the season).

The Bears have been mediocre for the past 3 years. But, rather than cleaning house, they consolidated Lovie's power, let him bring in more of his guys and this team is not better in any way. I see them as just as mediocre as a year ago.

Illinois is a noticeably better football team than they were a year ago. The Bears are not.

To answer the question of this thread, it looks like a no after this week. I have been shattering my knees jumping on and off the Bears bandwagon, so I think now I will stay off.

Maybe it's just me... but how do they have 3 wins against teams with combined 1 loss?

It's a Napoleon complex. Illini fans try to compensate for obvious shortcomings in their athletic program through convoluted celebrations of their success in non-revenue (irrelevant) sports and by becoming complete and utter meatballs when it comes to football and basketball.

Replace "Illini" with "Hawkeye" and your statement becomes even more accurate.

This is going to be a bad year to be "anti-Illini" Midget, particularly in basketball where Bruce Weber will have his revenge against you with bumper recruiting crops.

The only thing holding the basketball program back this year is that the Big Ten might have 5 of the top 10 teams in the country.

I guess we'll finally be able to dispense with the myth that Bruce Weber is a great coach, then.

Go ahead.

Can we also dispense with the myth of the American Revolution and oxygen as well?

After the Bears lost to a Seahawks' team that's not much better than they are and the Falcons got their clocks cleaned by Kevin Kolb and the Eagles in Philadelphia yesterday, there were some hoping to see if either team can stand out in the wide open NFC. Unfortunately, we're still waiting to see the best team in the NFC stand up...

Throw in the fact that the Bears opponents are 5-14 on the season and it isn't hard to figure out that this record is a mirage and the Bears are frauds.

6-10 is still a possibility.

Are you called shakes because someone did it to you too hard as a baby?

They will have no less than 6 wins after the first 8 games.

Who's the retard now Dolphin, who's the retard now?

I don't think I've used that word here in the entire time you have posted on this site. The Bears are bad.

I'm allowed a lack of perspective in evaluating the Sox and Bears, but I have stopped using the word retard on this site and even in most of my casual conversation.

whereas I have upped my usage of the word retard and even use it out of context as much as possible. For example....

"I'll have the steak medium and slightly retarded"
"Turn left at the stop sign, then go 6 retards up the road until you get to 4th street, from there go retard."
"Can you believe Taylor Swift did the retard with John Mayer?"
"I lost my calculater, does anyone know what 72 retard 165 is?

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced you were actually involved in the Browns Chicken Massacre.
