Poles poached him.

Gonna tap the brakes a bit until we see if these guys can play, but Poles does at least seem to be good at recognizing guys with potential on the bottom of other teams rosters that can maybe build up the bottom or middle of his roster.

The true test will be if he can recognize and draft/acquire guys for the top of the roster and consistently hit on early round picks, it does look like he is building a group of guys who could develop into solid starters, but you need consistent playmakers, especially at QB, to win in in this league.

It does seem that Getsy may be the key hire, they need quick/ruthless evaluations of what they have on offense, and need an OC that can quickly coach guys up while being a smart play caller. This is a bit ask of a first time OC, and if Getsy hits on these things, especially evaluating and developing Fields, he will easily be the best hire during the fiasco known as the George McKaskey tenure as top guy.

Nope, but you certainly upgraded your depth on the oline, highly likely one of both of them start several games due to the attrition at the position, and maybe one of them is a quality starter with a reasonable cap hit which will allow them to steer cap space or draft picks towards C and OT.

Were you happier with Mustipher starting at guard? They have upgraded the oline a bit without committing tons of cap room to an aging vet who would be declining when the team is better in a few years.

The Bears were the only team to claim Leatherwood on waivers.

Bears can afford him.

MANY other teams can not.

I'm pretty sure that had more to do with salary. The Bears are in the best position to take a $6M gamble.

Where did you hear that? He's a 2 million dollar lottery ticket...I would be very surprised if that was the case.

Isn't his salary only $1.3 million this year?

They took on the remaining 3 years of his salary by signing him, for like $5.6 Million I believe.

He has about $6M in guarantees left.

Claiming him on waivers would have made the team doing it, liable for the rest of his contract.

Clearing waivers he would have had MANY more suitors since the contract would not have been picked up then.

Aren't you happy that we have stopped throwing away draft capital to repair previous drafting mistakes?

I like the strategy. I just don't have a feel for Poles' talent evaluation skills yet.

No where to go but up from the previous Ryan.

Oh, right, forgot that his contract is guaranteed.

I thought his draft picks looked good in the preseason. Free agents? Not so much.

Let's hope. We said similar things after Emery's departure.

It's hard to evaluate rookies in the preseason since not everyone is playing with the same level of effort.

Poles sees a weak Lions team and a down Packers year and will be playing to win from the jump!

Good player, 10 cent brain. Told Vikings rookie CB to sleep with his eyes open. Might be Bears #2 and push Mooney for #1.

Big play receiver who was always clutch at Iowa but he is one of those guys who cannot help himself from doing dipshit things

this is an illustration of who he is

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HOqw2E45k4

by the way pro bowl Jack Sanborn sighting at 1:00

we are going to like him, then we are going to hate him
