He cannot play on running downs since he refuses to block and the Bears are in no position with their offensive line to go ten vs. eleven in the run game. So basically all he's doing to do is telegraph to teams what plays the Bears are limited to if he's in the huddle.

And the worst part is Burton is just as soft. They are both the same guy, basically.

He was the director of pro player personnel for my Saints.

We never stocked up on reasonably priced ballplayers.

And the guy (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky couldn't beat out in college was a bench warmer in the XFL.

That's how he was effectively used.

Under normal circumstances, this is just a bad move. Given the hole the Bears are in because of Pace....$9 Million of guaranteed waste is just another fire-able offense.
Awful.

It's essentially a 1 year rental.

It’s a $9 million rental for a player who couldn’t play two years ago

His salary for this year is all that matters.

Nope. That guaranteed money hits no matter what.

I like that your coping mechanism for these recent deals is to pretend they aren’t as bad they are. Probably the best route.

The Bears have significantly improved a major need on offense. They have a receiving TE who will play in a TE friendly offense.

He's not really a tight end because he refuses to do a lot of things that the position requires. It was OK when he was one of the truest matchup nightmares in the league but he's not that guy anymore.

Its a really bad signing for a team that has very limited resources to get better.

No they don’t. JP Holtz is still unproven in that role, as you already acknowledged.

It's a disaster what else can you say. The team is run by idiots. I'm certain posters here could do a better job.

Nas would extend Mitch and trade two more picks to SF just to make him feel valued.

Nas would have seen Mahomes and tried to contain my erection while giving Goodell my pick for him.

Immediately the best TE on the roster out of 9 guys.. which is sad. Pace is terrible.

Biggs just said he talked to a few teams who needed TEs. Graham wasn't on their radar. One said he figured he would be retiring due to no team signing him.

When Brady inevitably lands on the Bears this signing will make sense. #Dynasty

I would rather just run with what we have than Graham. I'm not sure I would have even wanted him for the league minimum. Was there any point during the last two years that you thought the Bear D had to scheme with him as a consideration?

9 million is just two less than Hooper will make next year. How in the heck did Graham get top dollar. This was a team that needed to wait out players to find value.

There are at least half a dozen guys I would have taken a chance on before Graham. Make no mistake, this is taking a chance, hoping that he returns to some semblance of what he was...at 33...and with millions in the bank.

This isn't even a guy who helps Mitch be a better Mitch as he has a low catch rate.
