Months of discussions about Wisconsin, board meltdowns, multiple screen names, cars going through a Panera front window, a letdown of epic proportions relating to cell phone camera shots of chicks in a parking lot, the return of Cooler and everything in between.. Rex F'in Grossman brings MITC out of retirement?

Drags me right back to last fall/winter where we'd go around and around bitching/moaning and praising Rex. Ahh.. football season is back.

I know, man. See, you're fucking hating Rex now, right?

Nice to see you post as yourself again Matt. Stay around for Grossman's Pro Bowl season

Despite any rumors to the contrary, I never posted as anyone but myself. And I hope you're right about Grossman. I still think he has the best potential. I'm just saying they need to get some reps for the other two. We can't get halfway into the season and find out that our QB can't handle the snap and have no one ready to go. If one of the other two out-play Grossman, I feel he should get the job.

Culpepper is the guy with the long time fumbling problem.

Rex is below the league average on QB fumbles. I haven't looked it up but I'm sure of it.

You're right Nas. Every god damn thing he does gets blown up. It really is amazing.

I've previously likened Culpepper to Grossman. They're both Turnoverasauruses that lose you a game as frequently as they win you a game.

I think we will get an offensive treat this year. Believe it or not but I think our defense will need the help. They won't finish in the top 5 this year but the offense will.

I think the offense is excellent. It would be a real indictment of Grossman if he failed to produce with it. I'm just hoping his mistakes don't hold the offense back.

Even the MNF crew mentioned this. They were the ones to say (paraphrasing) "If Peyton were 9-11 with two fumbles in the preseason, people would say it was no big deal since it's the preseason. When Rex does it, the sky is falling." Maybe having Tirico, Jaws and Kornheiser in the booth will work out this year.

At least they're on the same page as most of us are.

I thought you guys wanted to see him complete a higher percentage of his passes? He has done that so far this preseason. Personally I like production and I haven't seen that. Since his completion percentage is higher and his mechanics are better we have to look at how he handle snaps? Dropping 3 snaps in the SB was huge but that doesn't make it a trend for big games. Before that he only had 3 dropped snaps all season. Watch enough games this year and you will notice this isn't as rare as some of you would like for us to believe.

I know it's against pre-season competition and won't mean squat on opening day, but I'm personally impressed he's completing 80% of his passes this pre-season. That's a major improvement. If the coaching staff is willing to rein him in on his ill-timed long bombs, I'll be a happy Bears fan. The fumbles are easy to fix.. unless you're Rashaan Salaam.

I'm chiming in again with Aaron Brooks, and this time I've got STATS with me.

Brooks' fumbles:

2000 - 4, lost 1 (8 games)
2001 - 13, lost 2 (16 games)
2002 - 10, lost 5 (16 games)
2003 - 14, lost 11 (16 games)
2004 - 13, lost 2 (16 games)
2005 - 4, lost 2 (13 games)
2006 - 5, lost 3 (8 games)

Culpepper's fumbles:

1999 - 1, lost 0 (1 game)
2000 - 11, lost 6 (16 games)
2001 - 16, lost 7 (11 games)
2002 - 21, lost 8 (16 games)
2003 - 15, lost 6 (14 games)
2004 - 9, lost 4 (16 games)
2005 - 5, lost 3 (7 games)
2006 - 3, lost 0 (4 games)

Grossman had 7 last year, with 5 lost. Then he had those post season fumbles too. Only time will tell if he can compare to these mammoth numbers by these two turnover juggernauts.

Rex had two HUGE fumbles...in a row...in the Super Bowl...that kind of leaves a lasting impression, especially nationally, when that may have been the only game a lot of people saw him play.

Tony Romo had 10 fumbles in 11 games, not even counting the poststeason.

O-VER-RA-TED clap calp clap-clap-clap
I wasn't feeling the Romo love last season and I have a feeling the guy is going to be exposed big time this year.

As for Rex.... He'll be fine....

I am very encouraged by the completion percentage I've seen so far. The fumbles are quite maddening, the interception was dumb at best, but I'm not ready to bail on Rex yet. I don't trust Brian Griese and the thought of another Orton season frightens me. That being said... CAN SOMEONE PLEASE WORK WITH REX ON TAKING SNAPS. Enough already...

Wow- 6 pages- I could have skipped watching the game and just read this. I think there was butter on the ball. BUT this is still pre-season.
